Lying, What is it Really?

Growing up in a home where honesty was a fluid concept, as a born again Christian, I see the damaging results. Too often, lying is masked as...

Funding for Solid Christian Colleges in Jeopardy

The left wants to shut down religious freedom and expression. Believers have known this. The so-called Equality Act is not from God, and we know there are only two sides to choose from. God will prevail! Please pray for institutions like Cedarville University which are training tomorrow's leaders in truth and righteousness. We should be prepared to see many so-called Christian schools, universities and religious groups fall away in the days we're living in. We already see people who have claimed to be with Christ compromise and live completely opposite of what the Lord has instructed--more to come. Stay strong and do the right thing even if you are the only one.

Did It Move You Closer to God?

Did how you vote move you closer to God or farther from Him?

ACL's pastor asked that today, and it is a pregnant question.

Our battle is against the spiritual forces of darkness. Are we with God or against Him?

Is the Democrat Party Anti-God?

Lee Duigon has shared this and it is a quick read. See what the Democrat leadership thinks about God.

This is also worth viewing--Voting Democrat is Not An Option. I agree with Dr. John MacArthur and many other pastors.

If you are a Christian, there is no question on how you should vote. The issues that make up each party's platform spill heavily into moral matters.

I Thought Voting for Biden Was a Good Idea at the Time

If you missed Rand Paul confronting Biden's transgender nominee for Assistant HHS Secretary over genital mutilation, you can see it here. This is something to watch if you are concerned about children in particular.

Good points are made here if you voted for Biden and find yourself wondering if it was the best idea after all.

Dear Evangelicals for Biden

Wake Up, Americans!

What is better?

A leader who is rude but has good policies, or a leader who is polite but kills while smiling?

The liberal media is distracting the public with half-mast flags for COVID deaths while actively pushing the so-called Equality Act, which is the greatest assault on religious freedom to ever be proposed in the United States of America. This is classic liberalism, they are not supporting one of their own for some anti-republican rhetoric right now also, feigning taking the high-ground. Be on the alert, while smiling and doing these 'noble' things, they are working hard to make it so doctors can inject your child with sex-altering hormone therapy even if you the parent (who will be committing a criminal act) disagree. WAKE UP, AMERICANS!

Most Comprehensive Assault on Christianity Ever Written Into Law

Why the Equality Act is a Disaster for Society

This is not the time for Christians to be absorbed with their own little lives, ignoring what is politically going on. We have to be engaged in the culture right now.

The Equality Act tramples on the religious freedom the US Constitution protects. It will classify the definition of gender as a civil rights issue. This is the highest protection there is, and it spells disaster for people who belong to God or those with religious beliefs that oppose homosexual 'marriage', transgenderism and other perversions of God's design.

What Does Concerned Women for America Say?

Those of us who are against these things are not against them due to our own opinions, it is the morality that God, who created us and this world, set forth. Why does anything qualify as a sin? It is because God, who has the right to say so, has said so. We don't pick and choose what is true and what isn't. We can't say something isn't a sin for us but is for others or vise versa. Right is right and wrong is wrong. God sets the boundaries. We either choose to acknowledge that or we don't. There isn't a 'make your own God' clinic that gets us in to Heaven or reconciles us to God.

God says that living together outside of marriage with someone you are having sex with is sin. He says that murder is sin. He hates hands that shed innocent blood. God makes the rules and if we claim to be Christians, our job isn't to defend what God has said, but it is to live and uphold what He has said. We are not helping people to pretend otherwise and we hurt the cause of Christ if we justify the sin around us because it misleads people. How awful to give someone a false assurance they will spend eternity with God in Heaven when the truth is, according to His word, they are heading to Hell if they don't change course.

What Does The Catholic League Say?

Who cares what ACL thinks about this or that issue. There is no glory in our opinion!  What matters is this: what does God think about it? What does He say about it? We're here to proclaim the truth of God's word.

The issues plaguing our society are not murky. We can know what God says and we can rest assured that if we are choosing to snub Him and sin, we WILL pay the consequences. There are always consequences to sin. No one who is born again can live a sinful lifestyle comfortably. Thus, if you are living a sinful life (cohabitating, engaging in homosexuality, denying your gender at birth), you are very likely not in Christ, which means, you will pay the penalty for your sins in eternity. That will mean you are in Hell when you die, because the only way to go to Heaven is as the result of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. When we humbly go to God for forgiveness, it is because we have asked Him to forgive our sins based on Christ's sacrifice. This is not a mental acknowledgment. It involves our turning AWAY from sin henceforth and living for Christ. A gratitude pours forth from us and we WANT to please to God. Either Christ pays for your sins, or you do. When He pays, Heaven awaits. When you pay, Hell awaits, because we can never satisfy God's requirements on our own.

Friend, if you are justifying your sinful decisions and actions and do not care what God says, why would you think you are going to Heaven when you die? Is it due to a feeling you have or because you read the Bible sometimes? Satan knows the Bible very well, how else did he tempt Christ by quoting (and misquoting) Scripture? We must die to ourselves and accept Christ's forgiveness for our sins.

Christians and those morally opposed to the tenets of the Equality Act need to join in prayer to God Almighty to protect us from this oppression and take action! (of course, Election Day was the biggest day to take action because it was well known that Democrats support this measure)

Isn't the Media Neutral?

Neutrality is a comfortable place to land. It is easy when we don't feel compelled to pick a side. Look at Sweden. Neutrality has been attributed to that country many times when we simply do not wish to engage in a disagreement or engage our minds enough to search out the truth. But when it comes to news sources, we are fooling ourselves if we think they are neutral. Many issues of our day are not neutral by any stretch, and if we are Christians, we're in dangerous territory if we pretend otherwise. Truly, we are deceived if we claim to live for Christ and yet view the media outlets as neutral. They are anything but.

As Christians, we are either on the Lord's side or we are not. There are many circumstances in our culture that are either pleasing to God or they are an abomination to Him. Naturally we can conclude that God's people should stand on the side of the line where He is standing. How can we know which side God is on? Read the Bible. Trust it and change our opinions when they do not align with God's. Be in regular fellowship with other believers in church. Submit to the pastoral care and leadership in your church.

Just as we'd be foolish to form an opinion on someone based solely on the words of their enemies, we are foolish to think we can label ourselves as something and then be that merely because we have a few ideas that seem to put us in that camp. If we claim to be in Christ, we need to check our selves against the Word of God and see if we really are there.

Realize that the media is driven by an ideology that is not from the Bible. The media is not neutral. There is light and darkness in this world. The media is not ruled by God, they are not the path to truth and what is right. If we're digesting the mainstream media like it is a source of truth, we're in trouble as Christians. There is a spiritual battle being waged in our midst and quite simply, the mainstream media is not on the right side of the battle line.

Why was Rush Limbaugh such an important part of conservativism in America? Because he saw what the liberals and the biased media were doing and would report on it in ways regular folks could understand. The liberals who are anti-freedom hated him for it, but no matter how much they maligned him, they couldn't silence him because to silence him was to silence a LARGE amount of the American populous. There are millions of Americans, just like there were millions of Jews who opposed Hitler, who see what the liberals in this nation are about: control, tyranny, death, fear mongering, oppression and the like. The god of the liberals, including mainstream media, is the government. The God of conservatives is often the One True God, yet not always. How are their irreligious conservatives? Because many people see the tyrannical bent of the liberal media and they want no part of it. They want small government, freedom, and they understand that when the government thinks they are god, the people lose out.

We must be critical thinkers if we're to stay on the right side of the road. Examine ourselves in light of Scripture--hate what God hates, love what God loves. And to be as shrewd as serpents yet as innocent as doves as the Bible says, we must understand what the wicked influences in this world system are and steer clear of them.

Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test! 2 Cor 13:5

Proud and Thankful to be A Woman

I love being a woman. I'm thankful to have a husband that values womanhood, as designed by God, as the means of fulfilling the unique role of being a wife and mother. The role of a mother is the main concern herein.

Too many women in America think that rejecting their God-given design is somehow superior to the 'old fashioned' idea of being a full-time homemaker.  Women were designed for greatness, and it is sad that so many have let society steer their thinking away from that and into accepting something lesser. God designed men different from women, and He said it was good. And it is good. I reject the wisdom of this world that says women need to have more than what God said. In getting this 'more' women have lost out. The sexual revolution did nothing to help women feel more fulfilled. Men got sex without the commitment. Women working may have gotten themselves outside of the house, but then someone else (or no one) largely focused on raising their children, and they were pulled in different directions. They still had home duties so their workload actually increased. Being lulled into thinking they weren't getting 'all they had coming to them' turned into a cheap counterfeit for many of these women. Today there is plenty of evidence that liberal women are among the most unfulfilled. Many feel they don't give their best to any one area, and that is a continual stressor. What I wish more working mother's realized is that plenty of mothers leave the workforce, and couples turn their lives in a whole different direction so that can happen. It isn't always possible, but it shouldn't be rejected outright. This is a sensitive subject, and inevitability feelings can be hurt, but as Christians don't you think we need to stop being silent on this issue that greatly impacts family life?

Two things are exasperating at times: One is career women who act like what they do is better than being a homemaker. The other is those same type of women, who also have children, acting like martyrs because they 'have' to work. They ignore any notion that they have chosen to have a career as the thing that gets the best of their time and youth. Working outside the home is not synonymous with being a career woman. Everyone knows that, but I'll state it since some women try to play both sides of the issue. If women are going to act like martyrs because they work outside the home while someone else raises their children, they should at least own up to the reality that they are choosing a lifestyle that requires they work as much as they do. People can drive cars until they fall apart, they can live with just a few outfits, they do not have to have expensive TV service, they don't have to eat out several times a week. We make lifestyle choices and trade off what we think is less important for what we value as more important. Not everyone owns a nicer home, or owns one at all.

I'm thankful my husband values what I do in creating a home for him and our kids. Our children are nearly grown, and they still attest to how different it feels (worse) when I'm out all day. Nothing takes the place of a mom in the home. It provides security and stability for children to have her there. It isn't rocket science, but it also can't be erased simply because people want it to be untrue. I don't think being barefoot and pregnant is a bad thing. I'm well past child bearing, but to act like that image is inferior to working to make life better for 'society' rather than pouring into one's own children, is a farce. This is not to ignore those mothers who must work to help pay for their family needs. Of course that is a huge gift and a sacrifice. Some regions are very expensive and people are unable to move to a more affordable region, but this is to address the great importance of a full time mother.

Along this line, I don't think I need something to fall back on if this gig I'm into doesn't work out. God's designed me for a purpose and I'm committed to living that out. I've poured the best years of my life into raising my children and I believe that is God's best. Had I been working 'just in case' something didn't work out with my marriage, my focus wouldn't have been on my family life, but it would have had to have been on educating myself and/or working. Scripture describes my job-- I'm a keeper at home. I'm not interchangeable with my husband. It would be to deny God's word to have a different attitude. God created males and females, and He gave each different roles. Too many liberal women get offended when you talk about a wife's role in the Bible, but a follower of God embraces God's plan and purpose. He is a good God, all the time, and if there is a problem with what He's said, it is with my thinking, not His word.

Why is it liberal women get to cover all the bases--they can think their husband is just as good as they are at being home full time with the kids, they can think their career is more important than being home full time, they can claim guilt about working because they 'want' to be home and think that equates doing the hard work of being home full time, they act like having a career is harder than being a full time mom, and they act like you have insulted them if they want to be outside the home...it can't be all those things. Bottom line, why can only liberal women have strong opinions about these things? I'm a conservative homemaker who believes that nothing is more important work for a mom than to stay home and raise her own children. I do not think every role women want to fulfill is 'the' best role. Everyone can't be doing what is best if we're doing different things, and I disagree that what is best for one person is different than for another in general because God has said what a wife/mother should do. It is not subject to human opinion. The family is designed to function in an optimal way-- God's way is THE best way.

Let's examine our beliefs and be consistent. If we think men and women are interchangeable, we don't have much ground to stand on with rejecting this transgender mess. Morality without the Bible is just an opinion that can change with the times and culture. God designed men and women, different yet equal. People are most fulfilled when they submit to God's design. Rejecting God's design, no matter how sincere one is, will never bring the happiness and contentment of accepting it. It doesn't mean a husband isn't more skilled at home skills or that a wife can't make more money than him, but God has laid out that a husband is to be the provider for his family and his wife is to help him by raising their children and keeping their home. Look at how communism, an ungodly form of government and societal rule, thrives when the husband is out of the way. The government becomes the husband, though it doesn't do the job as God designed. This is more evidence of God's design being to protect what He has given as a picture of His relationship with the church. There is a leader in the home, the dad, then others working together to fulfill different and needed roles. God is a God of order, and the beauty of a father leading, guiding, sacrificing for and protecting his family shows us how God Himself is toward His church. A man's wife supporting him, nurturing the next generation, and keeping their home fulfills her and utilizes her gifts in a complementary way. It is a beautiful design that is superior to anything else.

Inauguration Day 2021

The liberal Pope Francis is a weak, deceptive excuse for a Catholic. He assists the ushering in of wickedness and supports killing the unborn.

Look at what he is doing to pro-life bishops- Bishops who do not support the moral evils the Pope is hushing.

I used to take some comfort in the bumper sticker that reads "You Can't be Catholic and Pro-Choice". While I don't think most Catholics are born again, I always liked that they at least fought against the war on babies. I've seen first hand how some of today's Catholics are all too eager to have the blood of saline burned bodies of unborn infants on their hands. Some I was once close to helped usher in the horrendous anti-life Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, doing what I never thought I'd see.

People who don't read from solid news sources like The Federalist or don't read the Bible so they know what God's priorities are, should not claim to know God and then vote. Judgment awaits--God hates hands that shed innocent blood, and it is too far of a jump to say having a rally is equivalent to the purposeful sucking out of an unborn babies brains so you can deliver its then perfect, murdered body. Democrats yearn to expand abortion rights. The new administration wants to roll back the Hyde Amendment and the Mexico City Policy, which will force taxpayers to fund the killing of the unborn again.

These folks also long to take children out of the home as young as possible so they can be brainwashed by educational "professionals" and taught that gender is a fluid concept  (this is a direct denial of God's beautiful design for mankind, who is made in His image). Democrats are going to reap what they have sown, and may God protect those nearby from the collateral damage. It is a promise and principle set in place by the Creator of the universe. Traditional Catholics stand by values that promote life, religious liberty, and one's gender as given by God. We who represent God because of Christ will also reap what we have sown. That should motivate us to pray for those going to Hell unless their lives intersect with Jesus Christ, resulting in a relationship with Him. That should motivate us to speak the truth, in love.

With this I bid you,

Happy Inauguration Day 2021

The Endgame of Transgender Ideology

Kimberly Ells, author of this excellent article, understands what the left's agenda is with dismantling the family.

Liberalism, feminism, sexual reformers- to include denying one's God ordained gender, all seek to destroy the family. What or who will replace it? Why, the ever-loving, ever-nurturing, warm, efficient arms of the federal government!

The title of this post is part of the title of her article, linked to above, which spells out what the desires of the left are. Don't be part of the problem. Understand what is going on.

I'm a Christian-- How Do I Vote?

Having a blog means having a chance to say things one doesn't often get a chance to say.

With that I share that I don't vote for people; I don't support most candidates as people. I learned long before the embarrassment of our current President to stick to policies.  As a representative of Jesus Christ, I'm accountable to God for how I cast my vote. If I'm unsure of a so-called conservative, I'll trust God and make sure that I can answer to Him on how I vote. Of course I understand 3rd parties and what they do; of course I understand man's wisdom of 'vote for the better person' or 'vote against someone'. That doesn't always apply, however, because at the end of the day, I answer to God. It is He who puts people in power--and I can trust Him to deal with the results. I'll write someone in that I can stand before God and say I voted for in good conscience before I vote my party during an election where there is no clear choice for someone policy-wise. Man's wisdom doesn't trump my being accountable to God at the end of any day.

This all said, our last Presidential election left little room for a Christian to do anything surprising with their vote. We're dealing with very wicked policies from the Democratic party in America. To vote Democrat was to vote to kill the unborn--expanding policies to the max to give as much free reign as possible to tearing those babies apart. To vote Democrat was to support the government overstepping parental rights. This overstepping puts people with disabled children in a predicament if they don't do all the right paperwork as their child reaches 18 yrs old. It makes the government the parent and works to destroy the family as God designed. This overstepping means school officials can confidentially help your child decide they are going to ignore their God-ordained gender. To vote Democrat was to spit in the face of God.

No genuine, right-thinking Christian could vote Democrat in today's climate. I won't put that on a 'welcome to my church' sign, but I'll put it out for Christians to read because sanctification demands we answer for how we think about the political issues that impact life and the family. I'm not helping a brother or sister in Christ if I pretend they can ignore how the teachings in government funded schools are an affront to God Almighty. No, this isn't an issue to talk to an unbeliever or baby Christian about, but what of the mature believer who wants to act like public schools are neutral spiritually? Realize the Democrats are the National Education Association and they do not like freedom in education for a reason. There is a dangerous agenda in government funded schools. For the majority of Christians, they are a terrible choice. In my state, our department of education is looking at instilling policies that put school officials in positions of great authority over children, irrespective of the parents. Very dangerous stuff. Parents are responsible for what they allow to influence the children God has entrusted to them.

Why am I saying any of this? Because I want to be clear that I have never come out as a person who endorses President Trump. He is not a godly man. He is not a polite man. He does not represent me or Christian behaviors. However, his policies support where I stand on some key issues, and I'm pleased with the direction he's tried to take America the last 4 yrs. You won't find me aligning myself with him through yard signs and bumper stickers. Do those things help elections? Sure, but I answer to God for who and what I hitch my wagon to. I don't want an unbeliever to shun talking to me because of how I'm going to vote. It isn't THAT important--to hinder my witnessing opportunities. But it IS important enough that I get out there and vote according to the principles that matter to me as a representative of Jesus Christ. Because I am a Christian, I'd be ashamed for anyone to think I was a major pro-Trump person. His actions do not glorify God, plain and simple. He acts reckless and rude and does not use wisdom or tact. But I sure will come forth clearly that I vote for protection of the unborn. I vote for parental rights. I vote for freedom with education. Let it be known I will never vote opposite of life if at all possible, no matter how it is packaged with a candidate. Wearing a mask during covid is not caring more about life than protecting the unborn. Only a deceived person would think that way. President Trump has stood by many conservative principles that should be a concern for Christians. He is not a true conservative, but sadly our nation is so far gone we will not vote in a truly good conservative leader. That said, if we are not using the venues God has given us to represent what is right, I expect we will have to give an account on that. May we use wisdom and not steer our kids wrong with their priorities due to our passion for politics, or lose credibility ourselves as lacking wisdom or discretion.

Virginia Department of Education Taking Comments on Proposed Transgender Policies

I want to have this on my blog so that one day, perhaps after the Rapture, people can happen upon this and see the atrocities in America (and the rest of the world, really) that led up to the judgment of God. His wrath over the abominations we humans concoct will be severe and sure. If you are reading this in Jan 2021, please take time to comment your opposition to these dangerous measures.

How can adults, which are entrusted with the nurture of children, allow such twisting and distortion of reality? The mental gymnastics of people denying their actual gender, and then other people encouraging it rather than truly helping them, is deplorable. It is not the Christian, who understands we are made in the image of God, who is at fault, it is those who want to deny nature, who are at fault. Sin is the root of struggles with sexuality, and sin causes people to explore homosexuality and it is the root gender identity issues. The political 'left' think it is loving to endorse and encourage people in these endeavors, but the discontent, depression and other problems many of those folks deal with, is lifelong. You can eliminate every person who is against it, and these people will still be unhappy and feel something is 'off', because trying to thwart God's design, which is right and good, never leads to peace and wholeness. God can help anyone turn from their wrong thinking and wrong desires, but we first have to humbly come to Him and seek His strength and truth. We must admit we are sinners in need of a Savior, and realize it is only Jesus Christ who can forgive us and set us free from these bodies of sin.

Come, Lord Jesus, Come!

Victoria Cobb, President
Monday, January 4, 2021

The public comment period for the Virginia Department of Education’s (VDOE) draft model policies for the treatment of transgender students starts today, January 4, 2021, and lasts through February 3, 2021.  These model policies are meant for local school divisions to either adopt as approved, or use them as the basis for even more expansive (and dangerous) “transgender” policies.

ACTION: Click HERE to enter a comment on the townhall.gov website, and tell VDOE you do not approve of their proposed guidelines based on radical theories that eradicate all distinctions between male and female and indoctrinate our school children. (Click on “Enter a comment”)

To learn more about this issue, you can read our blogs about it here and here.  While there are plenty of reasons to oppose these guidance policies, here are TEN that will help you form your comments:

  1. Failure to use a student’s new “preferred pronouns” – which can change from day to day and even defy basic rules of grammar (“ze/hir/hirs”, “they/them/their”) – would be “harassment” and “discrimination”, for which both faculty and students would be subject to disciplinary action.

“For transgender students, acts of verbal harassment may include the intentional and persistent use of names and pronouns not consistent with their identity.” (Recommended Standard, p.10)

“A school administrator may need to direct school staff to abide by the wishes of a student on their asserted name and pronoun. A school employee’s intentional and persistent refusal to respect a student’s asserted name and pronoun is considered discriminatory.” (Recommended Standard, p.12)

“Complaints alleging discrimination, harassment, or bullying based on a student’s actual or perceived transgender status shall be handled in the same manner as other discrimination or harassment complaints.” (Draft Policy, p.10)

  2. Schools will be permitted to help a student explore, facilitate and make decisions regarding their gender expression of sexual identity while at school, without a parent even knowing!

“School divisions will need to consider the health and safety of the student in situations where students may not want their parents to know about their transgender status … There are no regulations requiring school staff to notify a parent or guardian of a student’s request to affirm their gender identity...” (Recommended Standard, p.12)
  3. The definition of “Gender identity” is completely subjective to each person claiming it, hence it cannot possibly be known by anyone except that person. Since it cannot be tested or ascertained by any objective method, nothing could prevent any student from constantly “changing” their “gender identity” to exploit many situations.

“Gender Identity: A person’s internal sense of their own identity as a boy/man, girl/woman, something in between, or outside the male/female binary. Gender identity is an innate part of a person’s identity and can be the same or different from the sex assigned at birth.” (Definitions, p.6)

  4. Parents who encourage their children to embrace their God-given sex would be at risk of being reported for child abuse or neglect by the school.

“School staff should be prepared to support the safety and welfare of transgender students when their families are not affirming. … Whenever school personnel suspects or becomes aware that a student is being abused, neglected, or at risk of abuse or neglect by their parent due to their transgender identity, they should report those concerns to Child Protective Services immediately.” (Recommended Standard, p.13)

  5. Students will be allowed to claim to be either a biological male or female (or both, neither, or something else entirely) for any duration of time, without providing any evidence to a teacher or administrator, making it impossible for teachers to comply with these policies.

“A student is considered transgender if, at school, the student consistently asserts a gender identity different from the sex assigned at birth… it does not necessarily require any substantiating evidence nor any required minimum duration of expressed gender identity ...” (Recommended Standard, p.12)

“Schools shall allow students to assert a name and gender pronouns that reflect their gender identity without any substantiating evidence.” (Draft Policy, p.13)

  6. Schools would be prohibited from notifying parents if a biological male is using the same changing facility as their daughter that was designated for girls.

“In addition to adhering to all legal standards of confidentiality, school personnel shall treat information relating to a student’s transgender status as being particularly sensitive, shall not disclose it to other students and parents, and shall only disclose to other school personnel with a legitimate educational interest.” (Draft Policy, p.12)

  7. All students will be allowed to use any bathroom or locker room they choose, without being questioned by any school administrator or faculty, eliminating privacy and safety of students in states of undress.

“Access to facilities such as restrooms and locker rooms that correspond to a student’s gender identity shall be available to all students.” (Draft Policy, p.18)

“School staff should not confront students about their gender identity upon entry into the restroom.” (Recommended Standard, p.18)

  8. The requirements for schools to maintain gender-neutral dress code standards will cause disruptions and distractions, permitting boys to wear skirts and girls to go topless in activities where boys can – such as swimming activities or teams.

“Students have a right to dress in a manner consistent with their gender identity or gender expression. Schools shall administer and enforce dress and grooming codes consistently across the student body, regardless of actual or perceived gender identity or gender expression.  Requirements for attire for school-related programs, activities, and events shall be gender-neutral.” (Draft Policy, p.16)

  9. Parents will not be notified that their child is being interrogated by school officials for allegedly violating these policies, or have the opportunity to intervene on their child’s behalf, UNLESS the complaints are not resolved “at the school level.”

“Any incident or complaint of discrimination, harassment, or bullying shall be given prompt attention, including investigating the incident and taking appropriate corrective action, by the school administrator. …The [School Division’s Designated Contact] shall be available to hear concerns from students or parents when complaints are not resolved at the school level.” (Draft Policy, p.10)

  10. The policies provide absolutely no exceptions or accommodations for a student or teacher whose religious faith, conscience, or understanding of biology and sociology prevents them from being able to go along with the “transgender” ideology and policies.

These troubling policies proposed by VDOE are totally unworkable and will force all students, faculty and administrators to comply with an empirically false view of sex and gender, even if it directly conflicts with their own fundamental beliefs.

Ethical Issues for Christians to Consider

While there are Christians solely focused on spreading the gospel,  we must realize not all believers have the same drive or purpose. The issue of sanctification is important, as well as sharing the truth with the unsaved. One of us plants, another waters and so forth.

There are serious issues in our culture that Christians cannot ignore simply because their mission is gospel deliverance. I think that we can fall too far into one of two camps: intense political involvement to the point of losing sight of the main thing, or shunning controversial topics like why Christian kids are not well served being in public schools. We want to be black or white so as to avoid confronting ourselves and to not have to make uncomfortable decisions.

Believers under the influence of philosophies contrary to God's word are at greater risk of falling away from the Lord, and then being useless to Him. Children who sit in classrooms devoid of God's truth, are less likely to come to know God, even if they are in church weekly. See the sidebar with Voddie Baucham's "The Children of Caesar" for some compelling data on why this is so. Shouldn't we who know the dangers warn our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ about something they may not know the history of, if God gives that opportunity? We have to care about where kids are educated. The world forces of darkness travel easily in the classrooms of government-funded schools.

The saved also have to care about political issues that God cares about. We live in a country with a system of government that gives us a voice, so we should use it when we can, to be a godly influence. Likewise, we have to understand the purpose of the church--it is for believers primarily, not the lost, and the way church is handled should be primarily for the saved to be edified. Christians who think only about focusing on the gospel often miss the boat on the actual purpose of the church, and the issue of sanctification. God uses other believers as part of the sanctification process, and that happens primarily in church. The pastor's role isn't to primarily reach the lost, it is to edify the saints. Church should be hitting on all of the issues that believers need to be taught and it isn't wrong for sinful cultural practices to be brought up. There is something very wrong in a person's life if they claim to be a Christian yet vote for the unborn to be killed or vote that children should be free to choose their identity, without parental involvement. Likewise, how can Christians think it is OK to have philosophies that are completely contrary to God's word before them for 13 yrs of life? Pastor's are there to shepherd the flock, in all areas.

These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

Victoria Cobb, President

Thursday, December 17, 2020

Yesterday, Governor Northam presented his proposed amendments to the 2020-2022 biennial budget to the joint “money committees,” just over a month after he signed a revised budget approved during a special legislative session that lasted 84 days.  In probably a harbinger of what’s to come under a presumptive Biden-Harris administration, we learned that Northam plans to transform the judiciary by setting aside funding to add four judges to Virginia’s Court of Appeals who will be more likely to protect the Left’s radical new policies enacted during his term

Among the other spending measures recommend by the Governor, such as “free” 2-year college for certain students and $90 million to provide vaccines, his signature plan to grow Virginia’s economy and improve education appears to hinge on legalizing recreational marijuana and using tax revenue from the sale of it to fund early childhood education for three and four year-olds.  See the details below.

Education priorities ignore the real needs of families

Among the spending measures Northam outlined yesterday, one of the largest proposals is over $500 million for public schools to supplement the losses in funding due to the reduction in student enrollment.  While he was reluctant to give a full explanation as to why there’s been a drop in enrollment, we know it’s mostly due to parents finding alternative education - private school, PODs, or home schooling – so their child can receive in-person learning or to escape the onslaught of the leftist indoctrination of their kids.  And while the percentage of students failing is increasing in this virtual learning environment, House Minority Leader, Todd Gilbert (R-Woodstock), points out that the Governor’s recommendations offer “no funding to help parents get the technology or other assistance they need to succeed.”

Northam also renewed his call for a program to give three-year-olds access to early childhood education programs, a major priority of his that’s clearly designed to move Virginia towards mandatory universal pre-K education.

The Governor is proposing $30 million taxpayer dollars to offset financial aid increases at public colleges and universities, and renewed his “free” college program called “Get Skilled. Get a Job. Give Back.” (“G3”).  The G3 plan would make associate degrees at Virginia’s community colleges “free” for students willing to go into certain fields the government deems more valuable than others.  Last year, Del. Mark Cole (R -88, Spotsylvania) likened this same proposal to “indentured servitude for community college tuition,” and believes that while the proposal focuses on the right fields of study, it will be too expensive since “Nothing is free. Somebody somewhere is footing the bill for it.”

Legalizing marijuana to fund early childhood education?

To help pay for all of his early childhood education programs, Governor Northam wants to legalize the recreational use of marijuana, relying on yet another vice like gambling to fund the education of students in Virginia.  Yet, we know that marijuana leads to more addictions, increasingly contributes to automobile infractions, is used by more minors each year, and will further harm families during this pandemic when a record number of people are unemployed.

Aubrey Layne, the Secretary of Finance, also reported yesterday that $90 million of the projected $120 million in tax revenues had been collected through the “temporary” legalization and regulation of [so-called] “games of skill” gambling machines.  Since these games are found in many convenience stores and bars all across Virginia, which have been closed due to mandatory COVID restrictions, there simply wasn’t enough activity to reach their revenue goals.

It was promised during the regular and special sessions by certain legislators that these “games of skill” would only be made legal through June 2021, so we will be closely monitoring the budget process to see if they will uphold that promise in light of the lower revenue totals admitted during today’s briefing.

Ethical concerns associated with vaccination and LARC proposals

Governor Northam is proposing $90 million to “ensure we have the supplies, staffing, and other infrastructure needed to vaccinate eight million Virginians” with the new COVID vaccine.  Funding to provide vaccines to 8 million Virginians (VA has about 8.5 million total), combined with Northam’s statement that “vaccines are the only way we can end this pandemic and get back to a more normal life,” appear to indicate the real possibility that his administration is preparing for mandated vaccines without religious or ethical exceptions.  This would be a major infringement upon individual liberty, as every person should have the freedom to decide for themselves and their families whether or not to receive the vaccination.

The Governor has also recommended continuing the “LARC” program which essentially funnels $2 million each year to Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics to pay for and insert intrauterine devices (IUDs).

These are just some of the priorities the Governor is hoping to spend your tax dollars on over the next two years, but like any budget we’ll be reviewing the Governor’s proposed amendments for other items such as taxpayer funded abortion.  You can also review his proposed budget amendments yourself HERE.

Who Should Christians Vote For?

Elections are not about individuals. They are about platforms, ideology and theology. Christians are to be about their Father's business, all the time. God ordained marriage between one man and one woman. He created them, male and female. He knits humans together in their mother's womb. People are created in His image, they are special, and to end innocent life is murder, no matter the gestation, age, race or creed. There are more black unborn children murdered annually via abortion, yet this is not talked about as our nation ramps up equality debates. Woe to those whose hands shed innocent blood or who turn a blind eye and align with those who do, directly or indirectly.

To corrupt children is wicked. Telling them they are not the gender they clearly are corrupts them. Woe to those who do such things or turn a blind eye to such treachery.

God ordained the family, a married father and mother, to raise their own children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Therefore, the family, as the example of Christ's relationship with the church, is to be holy. It is to be an example of loving order and different, but complementary roles. This is not negotiable for those who claim to follow Christ. God created and designed men to be the priest, provider and protector of his home and family. Some of the most unhappy women I know are those who have chosen to ignore this truth. Women are not designed to carry their family, and we see the results in the stress and lack of contentment those who do, exude. Wives are to be a suitable helper to their husbands, and there is such freedom and joy in this. Sadly, women have largely bought in to the lie that this is oppressive. We see the results. The happiest women I know understand and embrace this truth.

God is the head of society; not the government. This is a foundational difference between the political parties in America, and if Christians won't stand for it, who will? Foundations built on the government are controlled by a corrupt entity that shifts. A foundation built on Christ is unshakable and will not shift with the corrupt schemes of men.

Satan is using COVID and shameless fear mongering to make people lose sight of this and other matters far more important than if we will get a virus

We Are All Going to Die One Day. This is apparently news to some people.

What is the bigger danger for people? Living, possibly unsaved and never getting COVID, even if that means not worshiping God, not using our gifts to bless the church, being isolated and lonely, and suffering severe economic repercussions, or living life and being reasonably careful but not shutting ourselves off from the world and getting COVID?

Closing people off from each other is a sure way to slow the spread of the gospel. It is a sure way for fledgling Christians to be cut off from their lifeline, the church and the fellowship of believers. This results in weak believers who can be duped by the schemes of the devil and their own flesh. Being closed off ensures we as Christians are not blessing others. Does the Lord not determine our days, virus or no? Let it not be said of those who belong to Christ they loved their own lives so much that they refused to worship and serve the Lord as we're told to do. Let us be an example to those coming after us of what it means to follow God during hard times. Let us be an example of living out Romans 12:1-2. What if all the missionaries loved their lives to the degree Christians in America apparently do? It is not a contradiction to be thankful for life yet not stay closed off from the world because of a virus that nearly everyone under 65 years old recovers from! Give adults the option to put their own life at risk--this is freedom. There are plenty of elderly who would rather risk getting COVID, even if it means possibly dying from it, rather than live shut off from their loved ones. People need to be touched by other people.

Those with plenty of money can afford to think the economy doesn't matter. They can afford to think shutting down the world is the only answer, not seeing how the economy is really PEOPLE. When it is all about us, isn't that what we call selfish and short-sighted? We can say that living broke, not providing for our kids, hiding out in povery is better than being dead, but let's remember that the recovery rate for children and healthy adults is around 99 percent. How weak have we become as a people? For crying out loud, again I remind us that death IS coming for us all. This is NOT the bubonic plague, people. Even if it was, people need to eat. The government is no one's savior.

How should a Christian vote in the upcoming presidential election? In a way that aligns with what God has outlined clearly in His word. On issues we want to claim He is silent on, vote on the issues He is anything BUT silent on.

Are Public Schools Bad?

The Harsh Truth About Public Schools

I've chosen the above link to this book because the reviews do a good job explaining where the author is coming from and how he approaches the work. It is one of two books that might challenge what proponents of public education think.

Discussing hot topics is something most of us shy away from. Going along to get along is far easier, but I have never been that sort of person. I love people and I love truth. I can't pretend something is neutral or just 'another option' among other good options. This is tough because of course there are hard cases where single income living isn't an option, or both parents don't agree on private school or homeschooling, or for single parents who can't transport their child or who can't afford anything put the government schools. The thing is, and I'm trying to say this gently--- hard cases cannot shape or hide truth. It is also hard to tell a homosexual that is very kind or a part of your family that you can't accept their lifestyle. It is painful to not be excited with a relative who just got their first house with their girl/boyfriend because they are violating God's standards. But we can't forget God has standards and as His people, we need to stand for those things and not be ashamed. Hard cases like rape can't make us think abortion is ok...rape is horrendous, but killing the child produced is also horrendous.

With that in mind, my point is that government education is not sound for Christians. If we looked at it as a non-option, like many other things in life, we'd figure out as best we could how to avoid it. But the public schools are a part of the American way, and for those who aren't Christians it is very insulting and seems crazy to disparage government funded schools. No one appreciates being told or having it implied that the educational choice they made was somehow not acceptable to some people. People get offended thinking you are insulting the sweet Christian teacher their child had one or two years...they look at all the positives. Of course it is designed to be a positive caring environment (though sadly abuse happens every year in the public schools).

Christians also get offended and they say that only the Gospel matters--how people educate doesn't. They imply that those against public education for Christian kids have a pride problem thinking they are superior. It will be said that you are putting a secondary issue before the gospel. This could not be more incorrect.

My concern with public schools lies completely in the truth that there is an agenda that is very much anti-God, and I do not think it is right to put children in a system for 12 yrs that continually indoctrinates them away from God. From the self-love to the evolutionary beginnings to the promoting of religions that are anything but Christian to the history that leaves God out to the liberal ideals that say being transgender is OK...none of it brings glory to God. People far better at explaining have said it all (see sidebar videos on my blog and books recommended).

Will there be outliers to the statistics, meaning, won't some Christian kids in the public schools remain in the faith? Of course, roughly 20% will.

Sending the most vulnerable among us to be 'salt and light' is unwise when there are adults with their own agendas heavily influencing those kids for 12 yrs, and there is a curriculum, which also does the teaching and is anti-God. That curriculum is heavily influencing them for 12 yrs, and the kids that these tender shoots are in school with are not Christian children. Kids in public schools are far more likely to make friends that are not solid Christians, which we know is not how God wants us to live.

Satan is a deceiver and one of his greatest tools to undermine the effort to reach the lost and undermine Christian parents is government-funded education.

Be brave, Culture! Souls are at stake.
