New Booklet from Grace to You

This arrived today for someone in my home, having been ordered several weeks ago. God is so faithful. His timing is always perfect ♥

Counseling One Another by Paul Tautges

I think this is a worthwhile website to have bookmarked and there are numerous titles that seem good for one's library. On the recommendation of a trusted pastor friend, I've referred others to this site. I've found Paul's take on certain books aligns with my own, and the articles he writes are sound. I haven't read everything so I always urge people to use discernment and pray, and wives, talk to your husbands before aligning with anything.

That said, this is a worthwhile read, especially if you are a Roman Catholic or were. It is his testimony of how he came to Christ. He does such a great job explaining and it has reminded me how empty I was before Christ. It can be something we forget and then we lose our passion to share with others, or we trust God less than we did to impress on people how much they need Him.

Idolatry 2023

https://www.compellingtruth.org/graven-image.html

Our pagan culture does not speak of idolatry often. Idolatry in the lives of those who openly live in opposition to God is not what concerns me. They will face judgment, which is sad. What burdens this writer are the masses who think they are worshipping the one true God in spirit and truth but are violating what is clearly written. We are only to worship God the Father, Jesus His Son and His Holy Spirit. No one else deserves or should receive it- to do so is blasphemy and idolatrous. Reverence to statues in a so-called church is also idolatry.
Teaching children to venerate statues is condemning them to a false belief system that will be pointing in the wrong direction for eternity. It's a serious matter.  Thou shalt have no other gods before me is the 1st commandment, and the Me spoken of is God the Father. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved other than the name of Jesus Christ. To esteem anyone other than the triune Godhead as worthy of worship or veneration is violating the 1st commandment. The 2nd commandment from God is violated when we make statues that we show acts of worship to or revere in some way. Idols in our hearts are a problem as well; nothing should come before God the Father. No small worship of lessers is ok. It's hard to fathom that people still pray in front of statues, place flowers at their feet, or put crowns on their heads when we've had God's 10 Commandments for a very very long time.

Martin Luther

If you have never taken the time to watch the 1953 movie Martin Luther, perhaps this can be your year. Many do not realize the critical nature of what God used Luther to accomplish. Many misled Catholics could come to the saving knowledge of Christ if they simply paid attention to the truths of Scripture shared in this movie. The Bible is clear--man is saved by grace through faith.

The Church is Essential

Christians, and those who think they are Christ-followers, will benefit from Pastor Darrin's sermon entitled, The Church is Essential.

I found so much more information than I'd imagined. It took a twist that was unexpected yet welcome.

This world wants to distract us from the things of God. Those things won't look overtly evil if we walk with Christ....that wouldn't be subtle enough for Satan. He goes after the saved carefully, gradually turning up the heat, ensnaring us at our weak points then slowly reeling us in.

"Be sober of spirit, be on the alert, your adversary, the devil, prowls about as a roaring lion seeking whom He may devour...."

There are prime times we are vulnerable. Keep the church essential in the formal and informal ways. Don't get loose near your vulnerable points, but tighten up more than necessary to ensure you stay covered.

Wake Up, Americans!

What is better?

A leader who is rude but has good policies, or a leader who is polite but kills while smiling?

The liberal media is distracting the public with half-mast flags for COVID deaths while actively pushing the so-called Equality Act, which is the greatest assault on religious freedom to ever be proposed in the United States of America. This is classic liberalism, they are not supporting one of their own for some anti-republican rhetoric right now also, feigning taking the high-ground. Be on the alert, while smiling and doing these 'noble' things, they are working hard to make it so doctors can inject your child with sex-altering hormone therapy even if you the parent (who will be committing a criminal act) disagree. WAKE UP, AMERICANS!

Democrats Ramming Equality Act to Avoid Scrutiny

Franklin Graham Calls Equality Act a Smokescreen

Most Comprehensive Assault on Christianity Ever Written Into Law

Why the Equality Act is a Disaster for Society

This is not the time for Christians to be absorbed with their own little lives, ignoring what is politically going on. We have to be engaged in the culture right now.

The Equality Act tramples on the religious freedom the US Constitution protects. It will classify the definition of gender as a civil rights issue. This is the highest protection there is, and it spells disaster for people who belong to God or those with religious beliefs that oppose homosexual 'marriage', transgenderism and other perversions of God's design.

What Does Concerned Women for America Say?

Those of us who are against these things are not against them due to our own opinions, it is the morality that God, who created us and this world, set forth. Why does anything qualify as a sin? It is because God, who has the right to say so, has said so. We don't pick and choose what is true and what isn't. We can't say something isn't a sin for us but is for others or vise versa. Right is right and wrong is wrong. God sets the boundaries. We either choose to acknowledge that or we don't. There isn't a 'make your own God' clinic that gets us in to Heaven or reconciles us to God.

God says that living together outside of marriage with someone you are having sex with is sin. He says that murder is sin. He hates hands that shed innocent blood. God makes the rules and if we claim to be Christians, our job isn't to defend what God has said, but it is to live and uphold what He has said. We are not helping people to pretend otherwise and we hurt the cause of Christ if we justify the sin around us because it misleads people. How awful to give someone a false assurance they will spend eternity with God in Heaven when the truth is, according to His word, they are heading to Hell if they don't change course.

What Does The Catholic League Say?

Who cares what ACL thinks about this or that issue. There is no glory in our opinion!  What matters is this: what does God think about it? What does He say about it? We're here to proclaim the truth of God's word.

The issues plaguing our society are not murky. We can know what God says and we can rest assured that if we are choosing to snub Him and sin, we WILL pay the consequences. There are always consequences to sin. No one who is born again can live a sinful lifestyle comfortably. Thus, if you are living a sinful life (cohabitating, engaging in homosexuality, denying your gender at birth), you are very likely not in Christ, which means, you will pay the penalty for your sins in eternity. That will mean you are in Hell when you die, because the only way to go to Heaven is as the result of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. When we humbly go to God for forgiveness, it is because we have asked Him to forgive our sins based on Christ's sacrifice. This is not a mental acknowledgment. It involves our turning AWAY from sin henceforth and living for Christ. A gratitude pours forth from us and we WANT to please to God. Either Christ pays for your sins, or you do. When He pays, Heaven awaits. When you pay, Hell awaits, because we can never satisfy God's requirements on our own.

Friend, if you are justifying your sinful decisions and actions and do not care what God says, why would you think you are going to Heaven when you die? Is it due to a feeling you have or because you read the Bible sometimes? Satan knows the Bible very well, how else did he tempt Christ by quoting (and misquoting) Scripture? We must die to ourselves and accept Christ's forgiveness for our sins.

Christians and those morally opposed to the tenets of the Equality Act need to join in prayer to God Almighty to protect us from this oppression and take action! (of course, Election Day was the biggest day to take action because it was well known that Democrats support this measure)

Abortion and the Catholic Church part deux

More evidence the Catholic church should split.

https://thefederalist.com/2021/01/22/biden-harris-release-statement-celebrating-killing-babies-in-the-womb/

Only a lying fool could call Biden a devout Catholic. But no true Catholic could have voted for him, either. Catholics stand for the unborn. I disagree with any notion of being a good Catholic vs. a bad one. There are criteria for man-made religions and you can't be Catholic and pro-choice. For the record, voting for a baby killer is to have innocent blood on your own hands. Policies govern this nation, and political platforms are well defined before elections. Do you need to repent? God will forgive, but our actions do have consequences regardless.

My hope is that all Catholics will come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. A relationship with Christ is nothing like following a man-designed religion. Knowing Christ is personal, life changing, and fills us with hope and purpose. It moves us from self-righteousness to finding our worth in God. It is humbling and brings peace to know God through being born-again.

Inauguration Day 2021

The liberal Pope Francis is a weak, deceptive excuse for a Catholic. He assists the ushering in of wickedness and supports killing the unborn.

Look at what he is doing to pro-life bishops- Bishops who do not support the moral evils the Pope is hushing.

I used to take some comfort in the bumper sticker that reads "You Can't be Catholic and Pro-Choice". While I don't think most Catholics are born again, I always liked that they at least fought against the war on babies. I've seen first hand how some of today's Catholics are all too eager to have the blood of saline burned bodies of unborn infants on their hands. Some I was once close to helped usher in the horrendous anti-life Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, doing what I never thought I'd see.

People who don't read from solid news sources like The Federalist or don't read the Bible so they know what God's priorities are, should not claim to know God and then vote. Judgment awaits--God hates hands that shed innocent blood, and it is too far of a jump to say having a rally is equivalent to the purposeful sucking out of an unborn babies brains so you can deliver its then perfect, murdered body. Democrats yearn to expand abortion rights. The new administration wants to roll back the Hyde Amendment and the Mexico City Policy, which will force taxpayers to fund the killing of the unborn again.

These folks also long to take children out of the home as young as possible so they can be brainwashed by educational "professionals" and taught that gender is a fluid concept  (this is a direct denial of God's beautiful design for mankind, who is made in His image). Democrats are going to reap what they have sown, and may God protect those nearby from the collateral damage. It is a promise and principle set in place by the Creator of the universe. Traditional Catholics stand by values that promote life, religious liberty, and one's gender as given by God. We who represent God because of Christ will also reap what we have sown. That should motivate us to pray for those going to Hell unless their lives intersect with Jesus Christ, resulting in a relationship with Him. That should motivate us to speak the truth, in love.

With this I bid you,

Happy Inauguration Day 2021

God Sees--You Can't Be Catholic and Pro-Choice

I've always loved the bumper sticker that rightly says You Can't Be Catholic and Pro-Choice. Historic Catholicism valued life in the womb and recognized that life as a child, as it should.

Today's Catholics are often liberal, unfortunately, and since they do not rely on the Bible for truth, they have been moved away from conservative values because the church has moved. You can't vote Democrat and be pro-life. Democrats are the party of death to the unborn. To vote with them is to stand with them as they push certain agendas.

God sees and knows mankind's wicked ways.

It is wicked to support abortion.

God hates hands that shed innocent blood.

From Proverbs 6:

16 There are six things which the LORD hates,
Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:

      17Haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
And hands that shed innocent blood,

18A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that run rapidly to evil

Look this passage up in your Bible to know the 7 things which are an abomination to the God of the universe.

What Truth Isn't

Truth isn't tradition.

It isn't sincerity either.

It is what God says in His Word, which we can read for ourselves. Believers who have been born again have the Holy Spirit living inside them, and He reveals the truths of God's word to our hearts and minds. John 16:13 tell us, "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come."

There are sincerely wrong people and religions in this world that will not end in eternity with God, even if they claim they will. What does the Bible teach and say?

Sincere people do not go to Heaven when they die. Only people born of water and the blood go to Heaven--only people who have confessed their sins to the God of the Bible and have trusted in the payment Jesus Christ made with His life by dying on the cross at Calvary. The Bible teaches there must be a blood payment for sin and Jesus Christ paid the price once and for all---but to be part of the 'all' you must be born again as the Bible teaches in John 3:7, "Do not be amazed that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'

Religion does not equal truth. Even old religion.

Matthew 7:21 tells us, "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter."

Who will say, "Lord, Lord."? Will those who openly hate and reject God and His word? Will the prolific God deniers of our day cry out suddenly? I think not, friends. Like the athiest who told his struggling son to drink a beer and get some sleep, those who are living without God will die without Him. It is the religiously incorrect who will cry out and not be heard. It is those who trust man's religion and not God's word who will cry out and not be heard. THIS should serve as a serious wake-up call to the religious.

What does the Bible teach and say? 1 Tim 2:5 tell us, For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

We do not need a priest to bridge the gap between us and God; we do not need saints--the Bible says all believers are saints so how could a fellow human help us with our sin problem?; we do not need the earthly mother of Jesus. She was a person who God used to bring Jesus in to the world, but she has no powers to redeem or save us. The Bible says she had other children after Jesus--she was a godly wife and mother, but just a human being who was born and then died. Anyone other than Jesus CANNOT intercede for us. God is our Father, Jesus Christ is His Son, and the Holy Spirit of God intercedes on our behalf because of what Christ did for us and lives in believers.

We are to pray to God, and are free to do so because of what Jesus did for us. If you believe Jesus died, then why did He die? If it was to save your from the penalty of sin, then why believe anything additional is needed? That directly contradicts what the Lord says in His word. He is the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Him. Our works are like filthy rags to God. There is nothing we can add to what Jesus Christ did. It was and IS enough that He died and rose again--we mere mortals cannot do anything even close to that to earn God's favor or keep ourselves saved.

Being certain you are forgiven of your sins is what God wants. He wants His children to be free--free from the control of sin and wicked men. Free to live in service to Him because of the gift He's given. There are no subjective rules, only God's clear word that says how those who belong to Him should act and live (to please Him, which means dying to ourselves and living for Him.). This is the RESULT of what He did, it is not to try to earn His favor. ♥

Ligonier Ministries, Is the Reformation Over?

From R.C. Sproul, Ligonier Ministries

Nov 2, 2018

Is the Reformation Over?

There have been several observations rendered on this subject by those I would call “erstwhile evangelicals.” One of them wrote, “Luther was right in the sixteenth century, but the question of justification is not an issue now.” A second self-confessed evangelical made a comment in a press conference I attended that “the sixteenth-century Reformation debate over justification by faith alone was a tempest in a teapot.” Still another noted European theologian has argued in print that the doctrine of justification by faith alone is no longer a significant issue in the church. We are faced with a host of people who are defined as Protestants but who have evidently forgotten altogether what it is they are protesting.

Contrary to some of these contemporary assessments of the importance of the doctrine of justification by faith alone, we recall a different perspective by the sixteenth-century magisterial Reformers. Luther made his famous comment that the doctrine of justification by faith alone is the article upon which the church stands or falls. John Calvin added a different metaphor, saying that justification is the hinge upon which everything turns. In the twentieth century, J.I. Packer used a metaphor indicating that justification by faith alone is the “Atlas upon whose shoulder every other doctrine stands.” Later Packer moved away from that strong metaphor and retreated to a much weaker one, saying that justification by faith alone is “the fine print of the gospel.”

The question we have to face in light of these discussions is, what has changed since the sixteenth century? Well, there is good news and there is bad news. The good news is that people have become much more civil and tolerant in theological disputes. We don’t see people being burned at the stake or tortured on the rack over doctrinal differences. We’ve also seen in the past years that the Roman communion has remained solidly steadfast on other key issues of Christian orthodoxy, such as the deity of Christ, His substitutionary atonement, and the inspiration of the Bible, while many Protestant liberals have abandoned these particular doctrines wholesale. We also see that Rome has remained steadfast on critical moral issues such as abortion and ethical relativism. In the nineteenth century at Vatican Council I, Rome referred to Protestants as “heretics and schismatics.” In the twentieth century at Vatican II, Protestants were referred to as “separated brethren.” We see a marked contrast in the tone of the different councils. The bad news, however, is that many doctrines that divided orthodox Protestants from Roman Catholics centuries ago have been declared dogma since the sixteenth century. Virtually all of the significant Mariology decrees have been declared in the last 150 years. The doctrine of papal infallibility, though it de facto functioned long before its formal definition, was nevertheless formally defined and declared de fide (necessary to believe for salvation) in 1870 at Vatican Council I. We also see that in recent years the Roman communion has published a new Catholic catechism, which unequivocally reaffirms the doctrines of the Council of Trent, including Trent’s definition of the doctrine of justification (and thus affirms that council’s anathemas against the Reformation doctrine of justification by faith alone). Along with the reaffirmations of Trent have come a clear reaffirmation of the Roman doctrine of purgatory, indulgences, and the treasury of merits.
At a discussion among leading theologians over the issue of the continued relevance of the doctrine of justification by faith alone, Michael Horton asked the question: “What is it in the last decades that has made the first-century gospel unimportant?” The dispute over justification was not over a technical point of theology that could be consigned to the fringes of the depository of biblical truth. Nor could it be seen simply as a tempest in a teapot. This tempest extended far beyond the tiny volume of a single teacup. The question, “what must I do to be saved?” is still a critical question for any person who is exposed to the wrath of God.

Even more critical than the question is the answer, because the answer touches the very heart of gospel truth. In the final analysis, the Roman Catholic Church affirmed at Trent and continues to affirm now that the basis by which God will declare a person just or unjust is found in one’s “inherent righteousness.” If righteousness does not inhere in the person, that person at worst goes to hell and at best (if any impurities remain in his life) goes to purgatory for a time that may extend to millions of years. In bold contrast to that, the biblical and Protestant view of justification is that the sole grounds of our justification is the righteousness of Christ, which righteousness is imputed to the believer, so that the moment a person has authentic faith in Christ, all that is necessary for salvation becomes theirs by virtue of the imputation of Christ’s righteousness. The fundamental issue is this: is the basis by which I am justified a righteousness that is my own? Or is it a righteousness that is, as Luther said, “an alien righteousness,” a righteousness that is extra nos, apart from us—the righteousness of another, namely, the righteousness of Christ? From the sixteenth century to the present, Rome has always taught that justification is based upon faith, on Christ, and on grace. The difference, however, is that Rome continues to deny that justification is based on Christ alone, received by faith alone, and given by grace alone. The difference between these two positions is the difference between salvation and its opposite. There is no greater issue facing a person who is alienated from a righteous God.

At the moment the Roman Catholic Church condemned the biblical doctrine of justification by faith alone, she denied the gospel and ceased to be a legitimate church, regardless of all the rest of her affirmations of Christian orthodoxy. To embrace her as an authentic church while she continues to repudiate the biblical doctrine of salvation is a fatal attribution. We’re living in a time where theological conflict is considered politically incorrect, but to declare peace when there is no peace is to betray the heart and soul of the gospel.

Reformation Day

Oct 30, 2017

I'm excited to be focusing on the Reformation and the importance of it. 500 yrs is nothing small, and how amazing what has happened in the world and church since Martin Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door of Wittenberg church. To celebrate, we watched Martin Luther, the black and white movie, and had a discussion about the fact that others before Luther also saw the corruption of the Catholic church, but Luther brought the issue to the masses. His studies gave voice and broadness to the problems within the Catholic church, starting with the selling of indulgences to control the people and keep the coffers full, and finally going to the heart of what it means to be in relationship with Jesus Christ. We are saved by grace alone through faith alone, and nothing we do and no amount of money changes that. It is a sad and disgraceful reality that the Catholic church still sells indulgences today as a way of raising funds. This is wholly heretical.

I'm grateful for the freedom to stand contrary to our culture on October 31st and proactively promote the truth to my family. It is a prime day to be in the world and not of it, celebrating the deep spiritual heritage we have. I liken it to why a Christian college is ideal for a believer--not only do you miss out on the falsehoods being taught and the dangers of the world, but you also get solid years of Bible teaching that you may miss out on otherwise. Celebrating the Reformation keeps us from bad things and also gives us good things.

Focusing on the wonderful history of October 31st isn't lost on a worldly, wicked holiday. I want to take every opportunity to bring glory to God in truth, and not use unbiblical methods to bring people in to the church through substitutionary events. We are to use the Bible's methods to teach the Bible's truths, and trying to make people feel comfortable by hosting pseudo Halloween events in a church in the hope one day they'll come back is not the Bible's method. People don't cozy up to Christianity, nor do they soften to the idea of it. Realize that this is the issue plaguing the church in America. Far too many churches adopt the notion that looking like the world will draw people in, but it doesn't. It only weakens the body of believers, which is supposed to be set apart. Remember, it was Catholics who used psychology to learn to look the world to then attempt to draw those lost people in to the church. Looking like the world reduces the church to what it is never supposed to be, and while that is happening, who is acting like the church?

The cross is a stumbling block and the gospel is to be shared with people directly. We've been in a church that really knew how to play the 'maybe they'll catch Christianity' game...give them a backpack of school supplies and maybe one day they'll say, "Those people at the church cared about me, I'll go there...". No folks, we can't pretend we're one thing then do a little switcharoo. The purpose of the church is to openly proclaim the gospel. No other organization or group does that. If we stop doing that, or are seen as a fun social gathering place, we're diluting, or worse, denying, our purpose. Many groups and organizations run great social causes, but they will never be a CHURCH. Only one place can be a church, and it needs to stay true to its cause. We aren't going to be all things--we need to do what we're designed to do, and the purpose of the church is to edify the saints and equip them. It is a place to bring glory to God alongside fellow believers who then go out and share the truth through words, deeds, and by living a life for God. We will be different from all other places and people, and that is one thing God uses to draw the lost to Himself.

Nowhere in the Bible is there an example of a disciple pretending like they weren't a disciple, or striving to look like the lost in order to maybe later, someday, share the truth. It isn't how it was done.

Tomorrow marks a special day that should be recognized for what it is. The issues Luther dealt with are still issues today, and those who don't know history are bound to repeat it. We are missing out on a good opportunity as Christians when we fail to celebrate the Reformation and how it is still needed today.

Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of darkness.

There is One God

I was talking with a man I'd never met before today during a lengthy family event. The conversation stemmed from butter, to gardening, to politics, religion and education. It moved to everything in between. He was never at a loss for words. At one point he pulled out a membership card to an organization that he's been a part of for more than 42 years, proudly telling me how many orphans they have helped.

No doubt, the work is important.

As we talked about the lack of God in our culture, I worked to mention the importance of realizing God is not an idea that we have and we can't make Him out to be what we want, but we must go to the Bible to know God.

Sensing I was not of his religion, he quoted Hebrews to me about the importance of how we treat others for we may entertain angels unaware.

In that statement, because I know a good bit about his religion, I was faced afresh with the difficulty of penetrating the minds of those who think they are right with God, but who actually aren't according to what God says in His word.

What does God say about our good works? Are they good?

God says our good works are as filthy rags. Our works, done to make ourselves feel better or done to make others be impressed with us, are FILTHY RAGS. I've heard it said this is referring to menstrual rags...

We cannot please God with our own skills. We cannot outsmart God. We can come up with reasons based on circumstances in our lives that we say point to God's blessing our choices, but perhaps the point is to see the awesomeness of God and turn to Him. We can volunteer and do our best to fit in with fellow Christians and serve, but if our heart has not been made pure by Jesus Christ, our efforts are focused on self and not the King of Kings.

God, help us--help me be pure in heart so that my service is out of love for You and others--not to earn any favor, because I can't, but to be a witness of Your love in my life so that others will want to know You, too.

Those who are well do not need a physician, it is those who are sick who do. If you are trusting in anything other than Christ for salvation, according to Scripture, you are in need of a physician.

*Quite sadly, this person I was speaking to suddenly died in 2020.

Sola Sisters: Christianity vs. Roman Catholicism

This is the best comparison chart I've seen between Biblical Christianity and Roman Catholicism. I hope it helps someone come to know Christ as Savoir. There are other resources on the Sola Sisters website, though it isn't upkept as a regular resource as of 2016.

Could We Be Reaching Many More in October?

History: Reformation for Kids.

A simple to understand summary of the Reformation. Resources for children abound!

I have wondered--as Christians have forgotten to celebrate or acknowledge Reformation Day, has it become a missed opportunity to share the truth of the Gospel with lost Catholics? When we aren't set apart, it is easy to have lines blurred...if we 'all' celebrate Easter, Christmas, Halloween or Substitutes for it, the 4th of July...what sets us apart?

What message would be communicated if many of us who believe there was a real and serious need for the Reformation talked about remembering Reformation Day? What if we didn't dress up and give out candy on Oct 31st but instead held Reformation Day parties? Wouldn't that subtly communicate to lost Roman Catholics they are still not on the right page when it comes to the truth of God's word? If we did this because we love Christ, His church, and all who are lost, wouldn't that say something?

Sadly, many think sharing the truth is hateful. But isn't it most hateful to be silent when faced with heresy?

Pope Francis Supposedly Claimed Virgin Mary Is Second Trinity, AtGodhead Level - International Business Times

Pope Francis Supposedly Claimed Virgin Mary Is Second Trinity, At Godhead Level - International Business Times.

If this happened, it is not ok. The scriptures are clear that the Godhead consists of three--the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit (who cannot be divided--He is eternally existent and we receive God's spirit when we come to faith in Christ).

Proclaiming the Gospel

This is an excellent resource that breaks down many topics of interest to Catholics and Christians.
