Emotionalism? How Much is Too Much?

Emotionalism, there are those who think the more the better. Getting in touch with our feelings is all the rage.

I disagree, and say emotionalism often leads people to not respond wisely, but rather it can lure them into what feels old, familiar, and thus, comfortable. Sadly people who are like this often cannot be trusted as much as someone who will look objectively at a situation while feeling the realities. Emotions have to be balanced with wisdom and logic. We can respond with kindness and grace to situations which stir our heart strings, but we need to be shrewd as well, understanding that feelings come and go.

False religions rely largely on emotionalism. It is a tool the Devil uses to warp the outlook and response of people who easily fall prey to it. This is why families/mothers often 'play the guilt card'. Manipulation takes many forms, and within false religions, you can count on it being a regular attendee.

I love true Christianity. No games, no mental gymnastics to make pieces fit. The love, mercy and justice of God Almighty there for those who humbly accept the blood payment of Jesus Christ.

Do not be lukewarm, either be all in with Christ and truth, or realize, you are all out. There is no middle ground or walking the line.

The Seriousness of Joshua 1-7

Recently when reading Joshua chapters 1-7, I was struck by how seriously God takes sin. His character does not change, so He still views sin just as seriously as He did then. He also takes worship of Himself very seriously. We cannot worship however we want. It is each of our responsibility to worship God in spirit and truth according to His word. Being religious and doing what your religion says, without testing it against Scripture, is a dangerous game that could have very serious ramifications. I would never trust my eternal security to anyone but God, especially when it comes to my children. Religion and tradition will not permit you entrance in to Heaven and they can actually send you on a course that leads directly to Hell. Deception is real, it is all throughout the Bible how we need to be careful as believers. We know from Paul's life, before Christ, that sincerity and excelling in a false religion means nothing good to God.

Matthew 7:21-23 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many [a]miracles?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’ (realize this is saying people who do this and do that, meet this criteria and that criteria, will feel like they are pleasing God, but those 'things' mean nothing to him. He tells us to repent, believe and walk in faith. Doing things that are pleasing is a RESULT of our salvation, they will not give us salvation.)

John 3 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
The New Birth
3 Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; 2 this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

1 Tim 2:1-6 NASB
A Call to Prayer
1First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. 3This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time. (there is no one else who can 'go to God' for us other than Jesus. Nowhere in the Bible does it teach that Mary, the mother of Jesus, intercedes for us. She had more children after Jesus and was a regular person. We were not told that she didn't die before going to Heaven either. Those ideas come from man, not God. Saints do not intercede either. The Bible says we who believe are all saints.)

Eph 4 ESV
11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds[c] and teachers,[d] 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood,[e] to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.

Why Religions are Dangerous

I was speaking to a pseudo Catholic today, and she was very clear in telling me she doesn't agree with several things in the church, but she does agree with some things. The aspects she doesn't like are why she no longer attends church. Sensing I would love to delve in to this, she announced she is still a Catholic and will always be a Catholic. I said nothing.

I know this is not a rare story. And it is one reason I'm passionate about reaching Catholics with the saving gospel. Religions that are steeped in family tradition, guilt, ritual, and anything else other than the Word of God entrap people and inoculate them against the gospel. Just as today's social-justice/gospel churches, people in the Catholic church hear some of the truth, so they think they have heard all of the truth.

People who have heard it all do not need any new information.

Do you see how this inoculates against the truth?

We are all most open to information when we are pretty sure we do not know anything about the subject matter, but on topics we think we are well versed in, we can only listen politely for a short time.

False churches do not make the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ tantamount. They do not uphold the Bible as the book the faithful ought to shape their lives around. If people were always taught that, they would seek out a place of worship that pointed them to God and Christ, and of course that would mean they would eventually see the falsehood in their religious institution, which surely has its reasons for carefully designed methods of keeping people from leaving. While Catholic mass isn't held in Latin everywhere anymore, it sure was used for a long time. 1 Cor 14?

A Blurring of Scripture-Margaret Feinberg

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibL3h3HSR4Y[/embed]

I would caution against following Margaret Feinberg as one who holds uncompromisingly to the truth of the Scriptures. Dr. Voddie Baucham does a terrific job in this interview as one proclaiming boldly what God's word says, as a pastor should.

What is it called when someone knows the truth yet ignores it? Apostasy.

What does it mean when a church brings a woman like Feinberg in as a female role model? It is a red alert; the yellow caution lights that have been flashing.

This blurring of the lines in churches is no accident; many seeker-friendly churches employ the practice so that what is said smacks of truth, but doesn't give the whole truth because that is offensive to unbelievers. The book of Acts explains that the church is for believers. It should be a place where believers are exhorted--they should be taught the truth by a man of God who studies and is called to the job by the Lord. It is great when an unsaved person goes to church and gets saved, but that will not happen if the truth is not clearly presented. Furthermore, the main audience is supposed to be those who have already died to themselves and are living for Christ. It is a place to fellowship with like-minded believers so that we can all go out from there and serve as God has equipped and called us, which will not conflict with His already established word generally. Do special circumstances come? Yes, Deborah judging wasn't the standard to seek, it was a sign of trouble in the land.

The gospel message is that we are all separated from God because of our sin, and He sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to be the penalty for our sin. Sin demands a blood payment, it always has and always will. The once and for all payment for the sin of each of us is a free gift from God-not as a result of works so that none of us can boast that we had any part in our being forgiven and set free...free to live a life pleasing to God, free to worship our Creator and not be controlled by our sinful nature. What our culture doesn't want to accept is that God has an order and a well orchestrated plan for how the home is to be run. It is a vain pomp when we use catchy phrases and emotional pleas to resonate with the culture. God is not fooled and He will not be mocked by the likes of Feinberg. Remember, one who misleads or deceives doesn't do it with outright lies. There is plenty of truth mixed in and smooth talk with a healthy dash of humor is what is a big seller these days. Perhaps some crassness will find its way in and of course heartfelt, sincere, life experiences.

Our standard as those who represent Jesus Christ is the Word of God, which can be understood. It is not a mystical book with many interpretations that are 'valid'. That line of thinking is wrong and casts doubt on the trustworthy and sure nature of God Almighty. He left us His word so we could know His will for us. He didn't leave it unclear, and He sees those who play games with His intentions.

I close with Philippians 3.

Philippians 3
New American Standard Bible

The Goal of Life
1Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things again is no trouble to me, and it is a safeguard for you.  Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision; for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh, although I myself might have confidence even in the flesh. If anyone else has a mind to put confidence in the flesh, I far more: circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to the righteousness which is in the Law, found blameless. But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

12Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you; however, let us keep living by that same standard to which we have attained.

17Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us. For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself.

Are you Dabbling with Mysticism?

It is a sad reality that many who think they are sound in Christ employ mysticism as an ancient Christian practice. Mysticism is not a part of biblical soundness and wise doctrine, it is something that has been around for a long time and is rearing it's head today, repackaged within the Christian community. It aids in selling a counterfeit Christianity that focuses on experiencing God rather than studying and obeying His word. "Hearing" His voice reveals more intimacy with Him than doctrine, for instance.

Today there are many counseling centers that endorse contemplative prayer, which can be an indicator that the center leans in the direction of mysticism. We need to take the time to research what people believe...where is the line drawn? Is Yoga OK? How about labyrinth walking? Spiritual retreats where silence is focused on? In my view, these practices should ring bells of warning to a believer. If feeling better and being happy is the goal of counseling or Christianity, we are missing what God designed us for. The Bible does not tell us to do breath prayers or to meditate on one word while breathing deeply, even if that word is 'Christ'; it isn't how we are taught to pray. In sum, positive psychology or secular wisdom should not be a part of Christian counseling.

Soft-selling these issues as a matter of opinion is very dangerous, yet we all tend to struggle in this culture with wanting to have our own beliefs and act like there is not absolute truth. All beliefs and views are not equal, in other words, all messages are not the truth. The message of the Gospel and who God is gets easily blurred, and if people do not understand the Truth, they can miss being truly 'set free'. As Christians, we should love God enough to defend Him.

May the Holy Spirit work in the hearts and minds of those reading, revealing the warning and Gospel according to God Almighty.

Heaven Is For Real | Challies Dot Com

Heaven Is For Real | Challies Dot Com.

I've posted on this before, but with the latest information that this book tops the best-selling Christian charts for the past decade, it bears repeating.

John MacArthur has a biblically sound book entitled The Glory of Heaven for anyone interested in the topic.

False Prophets

I've just finished the chapter entitled "False Prophets" in Studies in the Sermon on the Mount by D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones. Yes, it is embarrassing that I've been reading this book for well over a year, but in my defense, I read Bonhoeffer in the midst as well as The Truth War.

This chapter is one I wish every Christian would read, at least all those ignorant to what is happening in the Christian church today in America. Looking at Europe in the 1950's gives us profound insight, and we see how godless that country is now.

In a nutshell, it isn't always what the false prophet says, it is what ISN'T said. The messages are all about love, they are vague. They do not talk about the justice or holiness of God. People aren't told they are born sinners, and eternal judgment is not spoken of. There is a stark contrast with many of today's sermons vs. men like Jonathan Edwards or George Whitefield. Pastors who are not fulfilling their duty as under-shepherd are often prideful and more interested in humor and soothing people than proclaiming the word of Truth.

I'm continually amazed at how many people stay in these bastions of false teaching for various reasons. Children are not going to learn how to contend for the faith when they listen to messages that only tell part of the message of the Bible. We adults are not immune to the damaging effects either--we'll start to compromise and think there actually IS value in our kids being shown lewd TV shows as part of 'evangelistic' training or that attending a youth event that strongly mimics a drug-induced concert is worthwhile.

Why is it that parents will tell kids if they are in a car with a drunk-driver they are also to blame if there is an accident, but Christians will turn a blind eye to a pastor that is an apostate? Friendship or family relationships trump all in today's "community driven" church.

Examine yourself in the light of God's word...read Jude...don't buy into the modern notion that saying a little prayer makes a person a child of God, saved from the penalty of eternal damnation. The Christian life is not an easy flip of a switch in a mind. It is a dying to self, a realizing that we are born in sin and then we choose to sin--that if we don't give our lives to Christ, we will die in our sins and live forever in a lake of fire. A personal encounter with the Cross, with the gruesome death of Jesus, and with His glorious conquering of death, must happen in order for us to pass from death to life. We are not being honest with people if we promote anything but the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. The world can keep it's sin and it's methods, people need something entirely different from what they have. There is no blending of light with darkness, no matter how many churches keep trying to play that game. All they end up with is a gray haze.

Remember, it isn't just what the pastor says that needs to be checked against Scripture, it is also what he knowingly chooses NOT to say. And if he won't say something that he should say, the next question is, why not? Clearly he must not believe it or he'd be compelled to speak the truth. We aren't to purposefully offend, but we must give the message of the gospel in it's entirety, and that is what should offend when encountering unrepentant sinners because there is a distinct contrast.

Happy Easter,

ACL

The End Time Heretic Beth Moore ...

I was  blessed to have a wonderful talk with a friend tonight and one thing we discussed was how the enemy is using women to bring eastern mysticism in to the church. The lack of biblical discernment is staggering in American churches and homes. This is a long reblog but might give you something to think about.

J Dub

Jude, The Truth War, Culture

I have just about finished The Truth War by John MacArthur; I'm in the appendix so the crux of the book has ended. God's timing with a recent sermon at church blessed me so much in that the book ended with Jude and our pastor has been preaching on apostasy from the book of Jude. What an amazing and encouraging book Jude is for those of us longing to contend for the faith! When we stand nearly alone against the marketing of the gospel, a word outmoded in many evangelical churches, a book such as Jude is such a boon. In the appendix of MacArthur's book he includes a chapter from a book of his that is no longer in print, and a story he tells in that chapter is one that I JUST LISTENED to while walking the other day. My ipod is  used for sermon listening--I try to get in several a week in addition to the 3 I hear at church. How awesome for God to come to me in that way during a trying, trying day. Finally, because He is God, I was blessed to read about D. Martyn-Lloyd Jones in the final pages of The Truth War. Lloyd-Jones has written several books that grace our shelves, and one in particular that is quoted in MacArthur's book is one I am giving my husband for Father's Day. It's here at my house right now!! These encouragements that only God could orchestrate resonate within my soul tonight. (D Martyn-Lloyd Jones is who I generally listen to on my ipod, you can download many of his sermons from the MLJ Trust website. He was a medical doctor whom God called in to ministry.)

As I finished the book my middle child watched the oldest doing gymnastics. I sat there reading, praying, and even crying as I prayed to God for opportunities to share His truth. To offer such a weak vessel...I need the Lord to teach me and give me the words, to give wisdom, compassion, mercy and opportunities. All I can offer is myself, and if something great comes forth from this shell, it is wholly the manifestation of a gracious God. But like Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20, an answer from God on one occasion does not mean we are going to continually be in His will. I want to remember what we studied today in this passage of Scripture because God worked so powerfully in Jehoshaphat's life at first (when J. sought the Lord) but by the end of that chapter, all had changed b/c of failure to seek the Lord and act according to His will.

Friends, let us not grow weary in having firm opinions regarding righteousness and truth. The world is full of sinners in need of a Savior. No matter how unpopular you are among peers--there are things that are wrong which God spells out. There is no shortage of seemingly godly, gracious, gentle women that lack discernment and biblical wisdom. They scorn debating the faith or thinking too much about it, but God spells out truth in His word and we are responsible to know it. Good intentions mean nothing in the realm of faith, and we are at risk of perpetuating lies about God and Christianity if we aren't careful.   We must know what the Bible says. Why do we believe what we believe? Are all churches which name Jesus equally holy? Is it OK for Bible believing Christians to celebrate Lent? Can we have real fellowship with people who attend a myriad of churches? Does eastern mysticism matter and how is it invading the church?

We believers have bought in to the mentality that is pervading our culture and tells us to agree and act as though all points of view are equal as long as a person says they are a Christian. We have somehow traded the definitiveness of God's word, which is very clear on what is sin and what is not, for the wisdom of the world which heavily promotes the idea that it is somehow MOST holy to be unsure about anything regarding the Bible or God. We have only a tiny number of absolutes, and we won't even boldly proclaim them. We've bought in to the idea our Christianity will show and we don't need words. I was so blessed by a sermon my pastor recently gave whereby he made it clear that living a moral life or one that looks Christian can easily be mistaken for some false religion. Words are required to share the gospel, our own or those from a Bible tract.

Where are those contending for the faith? Where are those willing to cast off melding with society and the comfort of always seeming agreeable? It is lonely and painful to stand for truth, but it is so worth it. We cannot be wishy-washy in our own testimony if our goal is to raise godly, God fearing, Biblically literate children. We must ourselves be Biblically literate. We must clearly not  be of the world if we want our children to be able to withstand the onslaught, and I mean onslaught, of influences beckoning them to be OF the world. We must think through the decisions we make and things we allow  in our homes, looking at where they will naturally lead given human nature--looking at the appetites we create in our children.

God in Heaven, use us to do Your will. Break our hearts for the multitudes being led astray by churches full of yes-men-leaders, and give us opportunities to snatch some from the fire as Jude admonishes us. Amen.

LifeWay, Rick Warren, and the Son of God

Excellent point is made here. When a pastor uses multiple Bible translations it is a RED FLAG that he is cherry picking to fit an agenda rather than boldly proclaiming the truth. If a pastor does not have the Bible front and center (as in, it's an afterthought to mention getting out your Bible, he doesn't have his own Bible, or the bulletin mentions nothing of the Bible passages he's preaching on....)--beware. Find another church.

NO TEARS FOR LOST ROMAN CATHOLICS, BETH MOORE? : Apprising Ministries.

I've posted at least one other concerning piece regarding the one sound and terrific teacher, Beth Moore. Quite sadly, she has gone the way of truth-deniers in these last days. God help us stay on the straight and narrow path, even if it means walking alone physically.

SBC Pastor's Conference ...

Will Christians take the time to investigate the claims herein? Nope, they will keep going to church where they go, believing everything their pastor tells them is orthodox, and aid the blurring of the lines between the true gospel and this reconfigured, relevant, mystical 'Christianity'.

Can light have fellowship with darkness?

I say, 'no'. Roman Catholicism is not the way to truth or Heaven, yet evangelicals, southern Baptists as well as others, do not care enough about the truth to learn what is happening and then take a stand. It is a lack of discernment and apathy, and it is not only distressing, it is disgusting.

Who is on the LORD'S side, I ask??

Understanding Reiki

Reiki is something Christians should be wary of. Our goal is to bring glory to God, not muddy the waters of our testimony with questionable occult practices. Why do Christians insist on getting as close to the occult as possible? I think we take our freedom in Christ to a place it should never go. The ends do not always justify the means. Shouldn't we always take inventory of what we engage in?

How To Discern the Times

I wish there were a simple formula to explain how to see what is going on in the church today. In reading chapters 10 and 11 of Bonhoeffer, it's apparent God enabled Dietrich to see things that others simply were not seeing. This is the plight of those God shows what is happening...being accused of being narrow-minded, making quick or simplistic judgments, or being a heretic hunter is par for the course. It can be hard to not shout out from the rooftops for people to wake up and take the time to research. Sadly, however, I think the key to discernment is something many believers are simply unwilling to do, so they stick with their mantras of shutting out what they don't want to see or don't want to believe. It takes time, prayer, and discipline...not to mention a dose of courage, to explore what the post-modern church is embracing. Bonhoeffer was a courageous man, unafraid to stand alone on the gospel and racial equality, particularly in the church.

So many of us can remember a "I'm OK! You're OK!" past of yesteryear, and the 'niceness' of not worrying about what others believe because so many are well-meaning or are 'close enough'. If only this were true! People are changing the gospel and changing Jesus, but the words surrounding it are so loving and kind, it gets missed. We all want to get along (can't we just hear the imploring voice, "Can't we all just get along?") When the veracity of Scripture and the true personality and holiness of Christ are being compromised, I answer with a resounding, "No!".

Jesus doesn't have more faith in me than I have in Him. Christianity is not here to make my life better and luring people in to church so that their life will improve just isn't a theme I see in the Word. The early church members came together as committed followers, dying to self and worshiping, they didn't bring in droves of people through good works only to wait to slowly seep in the good news of Christ. There was a divide between believers and unbelievers and people could see it, that is why it was unbelievers who first called people Christian. There was a difference, a clear line of being set apart.

Today it seems few would disagree that the world is wrought with evil, perhaps moreso than these days of the early church, at least there are far more venues for the spread of evil...yet we try to walk so much closer to the world. We want to look so much like the world so we don't make the lost uncomfortable, but this technique isn't seen in Scripture either. Jesus said for people to take up their cross and follow Him. He said that family members would be divided because of some having faith and others not...the gospel separates because there is no similarity with light and darkness.

But  not in 2013--it's unpopular to tell people they are sinners who offend God and that without Christ they will spend eternity in Hell. In 2013 it is judgmental to say that drawing circles and praying in them is not Christian and should be avoided. In 2013 we welcome in homosexuals and many church leaders like Rick Warren join with other so-called evangelicals proclaiming people living in a lifestyle of sin go to Heaven. In Scripture we see a message of turning from sin in order to follow Jesus. But now, because we think we're more loving than God, we lie to people to avoid hurting their feelings and tell them they can continue to engage in something that is an abomination to God.

It is a world of no absolutes, except of course for the absolute that says you can't say there are absolutes. The "logic" is dizzying. Books that promote heretical ideas are swept under the rug or read by believers because on some level they think it's worthwhile to mix truth with error, all the while not looking deeper in to what the philosophy of the author is...not realizing what 'remaking Christianity' really means. Human nature has all but been forgotten and we play as though we're not rebels wanting to cast off some shackle, real or imagined. We flirt with ideas that are unscriptural because we get bored with tradition and are undisciplined in general. Exciting titles pull us in...

But....we have to be discerning. There are ministries that give insight to what is happening today in the church.  I'm not saying these folks are 100% right all the time, that would be ridiculous, but if we're praying for discernment and are passionate about truth, we'll have eyes to see.

Some places to start:

  • read the Bible very often
  • ask God to show you what He sees in the church today, ask for discernment
  • read The Truth War by John MacArthur
  • read Faith Undone by Roger Oakland
  • Apprising Ministries

Read classic, historic Christians for perspective...George Whitefield, Chesterton, Augustine (not that I'm endorsing everyone's theology or philosophy, but we can gain a lot of understanding of how far the church has gone in to worldliness as the world has gotten more worldly.)

I know many think it's a downer to pay attention to negative things, but if you are a Christian reading this, don't you think we have a responsibility to represent the truth in this dark age? Isn't it reasonable that we could be misled if we aren't vigilant to understand the speak of the day?

I know for a while I was really getting caught into the false humility of attitude which said I really didn't understand this or that about the Bible and so I comfortably avoided confrontation or seeming narrow. I see this now as one of the many ways the church is being weakened because there is quite a lot we can and should know. It's easy to be influenced by the world and wrong thinking if we aren't careful, but be ready, you will be considered a trouble maker or someone who just isn't interested in unity. Because pointing out error in leaders or ministries is completely out of fashion in 2013. I would rather stand alone for truth than come together with people promoting things damaging to the Bible's veracity just because they call themselves Christian. The definitions of the words matter, perhaps moreso today than ever.

The Circle Maker

We just returned from a wonderful week away to the mountains. It was one of those vacations without internet or a schedule, we just played games, read, studied, and watched TV. Before leaving, I sent a note to some close friends warning them about a new book that is out, The Circle Maker. I'd stumbled upon an EZC blog post regarding it and was glad to have done so.

While on vacation, I didn't think about things back home. I did spend a lot of time in the Word and reading. I'm still working through Studies in the Sermon on the Mount by D. Martyn-Lloyd Jones, but also began reading John MacArthur's The Truth War and read the first two books in Bodie and Brock Theone's Zion Covenant Series. I loved the Zion Chronicles...it was a wonderful time to refresh and recommit to the Lord.

So we get home and what does my husband find upon reading the current newsletter for our former church? The pastor is recommending the very book I warned people about last week. The newsletter came out while we were gone.

I'm thankful and amazed with how God works. He led me to the review and then put it on my heart who to send the warning to.  Had I seen the newsletter from our former church first, I wouldn't have sent the warning to the people I sent it to. May God pierce the hearts of those leading churches in to this new wave of pseudo-Christianity.

Apostate Watch-Arnold Murray Shepherd's Chapel 4

Please avoid Shepherd's Chapel. It is unsound and Arnold Murray is a false prophet. Take time to watch these videos on You Tube.

Why am I sharing this? As a Christian it is my duty to expose heresy and try to help people realize the truth that will actually set them free. Cults imprison and rob people of a life full of peace and wholeness.

When looking at colleges with these classes, it is important to find out just what they mean by this phrase, spiritual formation.
