It is important to not move on quickly from Charlie Kirk's heinous, evil assassination. He is a Christian martyr, and we cannot let evil prevail. Our fervent prayers for the lost must intensify as well as our willingness to forgive. Christ has conquered the evil in our day; at some point in the future, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Jesus Christ is Lord!
We're in a War
I was just reading a post I'd written in 2016 regarding who to vote for, and it is pretty shocking how society has unraveled so much since that writing. The left has gotten so wicked and evil, and we see it in the appalling reaction so many have had regarding the vicious murder of Charlie Kirk. There is no place now for any debate on which side to vote for, even if neither candidate is ideal (which is leaving a lot out in stating that in such a way; of course we've had numerous elections where that is true). The reality has become, and was here in the last Presidential election, where we as believers must do all we can to stem time tide of those intent on promoting evil. Who would have conceived that people would be so deceived they'd actually think they could change their God ordained gender? It is impossible and yet, people who should know better pretend like it can happen. We cannot change our DNA. Fact.
Anyway, old posts need to be viewed in the light in which they were written. The political parties no longer have valid but different views. Our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of darkness in the heavenlies.
How Evil Lives in the Political Left
My husband and I were taking a walk and discussing the horror of the assassination of Charlie Kirk. What he wanted me to know is that it really isn't a different opinion the left has. They are totally different people. There is such vitriol and wickedness now toward those who are not liberal morally and politically. We see it in the response of this hard working family man being brutally murdered, leaving a wife and 2 children behind. We can be assured Mr. Kirk is with Jesus. Sadly those he tried to witness to are dancing on his grave. The enemy is Satan. Let's pray for the lost.

Satanic influences abound and here is an example with Kamala Harris. Absolutely unbelievable. I do not think anyone who is actually in Christ as a born-again believer can vote Democrat. It is a deceived person who does; meaning, they are outside of a saving relationship with Christ. I don't go around saying this because hearts aren't changed by pounding on the outside of the man, but here on my blog where I can say what I think to those who choose to read what is written, I'm saying it.

the last Presidential election:

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:

Lobbyists who want to reduce your freedom have been visiting lawmakers urging them to support HJ 92. Will you help counteract their influence?
We need your voice this week to help fill Richmond with the message that freedom is priority number one, and that HJ 92 should be stopped!

2. Pay a personal visit to your delegate before Friday. Explain in your own words why you are opposed to HJ 92, and ask your delegate to vote against it. Delegates pay attention to their constituents! The offices of all delegates are located in the General Assembly Building, 910 Capitol St., Richmond. Here is a link to directions and parking suggestions. Before you go, take a few minutes and familiarize yourself with the issues by reading the background section below and the talking points.

Your message can be as simple as “I am one of your constituents. Please vote NO on HJ 92. No study is needed of the religious exemption. 4. Mark your calendar to come to Richmond on February 4. I plan to visit the office of every committee member that morning. Is your delegate on the committee? If so, it will be incredibly helpful if you, their constituent, come with me. We will go as a group and visit each member of the committee. Together we can multiply our impact! I will send details about time and location later this week. This HLSDA event is independent of but on the same day as the Capitol Day sponsored by Home Educator’s Association of Virginia. The HSLDA event will be canceled if the committee kills HJ 92 on Friday. The HEAV event will go forward regardless.

Background
A study by Dr. Brian Ray showed that students homeschooled under the religious exemption score 33 percentile points higher than others on standardized tests.
The study itself would place an administrative burden on the state Department of Education and local school boards. But the measure provides no funds to cover these additional expenses. It is an unfunded mandate.
No study is necessary. All five of the questions that HJ 92 proposes can be answered without a study.
The first question is how school boards decide if an exemption should be granted. The simple answer is that they follow the clear requirements of the statute.
The second question is whether school boards ever review their decisions. The answer is simple. Laws already on the books would allow a school board to review its decision if there is a good reason to review it.
The third question is whether school boards require an exemption to be renewed. The simple answer is that some do and some don’t.
The fourth question is whether school boards monitor the education of exempted students. The simple answer is no. They are exempt from all government education mandates.
The fifth question is whether the religious exemption statute should be amended to better carry out the state’s duty under the Virginia Constitution to provide free public education and compulsory attendance. This question shows that Del. Rust, who sponsored HJ 92, does not understand the Virginia Constitution.
The simple answer is that the religious exemption statute was never intended to implement the public education-compulsory attendance sections of the Constitution. It was intended to implement a far older, and far more foundational part of the Constitution: Article 1, Section 15, which guarantees the free exercise of religion.
One homeschool graduate recently criticized the religious exemption statute claiming that because it allowed his parents to homeschool him without government mandates, he had to take remedial classes when he enrolled in community college. This complaint does not hold water. Sixty percent of all community college students take at least one remedial or developmental class. And despite the education he got at home, now he attends Georgetown University, one of the nation’s top 25.
Between 1976 when the religious exemption statute was enacted and 1984 when the home instruction statute was enacted, religious exemption was the only way to homeschool legally. It’s not likely, but if the home instruction statute were ever repealed, the religious exemption statute would still allow families to homeschool their children if they believe that enrolling their children in public school is against God’s will for them.
A number of Virginia Amish families stop providing formal education to their children once they finish 8th grade. These families could be in danger of criminal prosecution if the religious exemption statute is threatened. Many other deeply religious families place such an emphasis on separation from the state that they would refuse to file a notice of intent if the religious exemption were not available. They, too, could be in danger of prosecution if the exemption is threatened.
The religious exemption statute works so well and with so little controversy that during its 37 years of operation, it has generated only one lawsuit that has come before the Virginia appellate courts.
Legislative studies are often used to clear the path so more laws can be enacted. It’s obvious that Del. Rust’s real plan is to use the results of the study (if it is conducted) to somehow support him in trying to take away some of your rights in the future.

One of the items on VCA’s priority list is opposing Delegate Thomas Rust’s resolution, HJ92, to question your freedom to homeschool your children under the religious exemption statute. This event will offer an important opportunity for you to visit the offices of your legislators and those who will soon be voting on the bill to voice your opposition to this measure.
Mike Farris will be the keynote speaker for the event. He will explain the details of the Convention of States Project, which is seeking to pass resolutions in 34 states that will require Congress to call an Article V Convention of the States to propose constitutional amendments that limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government. Call Congress to Action!
Please help us call on Congress this week and next to sign on to HJRes. 50, the Parental Rights Amendment.
With conflict in Syria and questions about the new health care law, you may already have a good reason to call Congress on other issues of importance to you. Just this morning Congress cancelled a one-week recess that had been scheduled for next week in order to give themselves time to work on the continuing resolution to fund the government for the next year.
So call them about these other issues – but while you’re at it, urge them to cosponsor the Parental Rights Amendment. (ParentalRights.org has no official position on these other matters.)
Think about it: At a time when every decision requires days or weeks of dealing and debate, this is something they can take care of quickly and easily. Becoming a cosponsor on the Parental Rights Amendment, HJRes50, will only take them a few minutes. Sending a quick message to Rep. Mark Meadows’ office is all they need to do to get on board.
And think what it will say about the importance of parental rights if we can cut through the din of Syria and government funding by sheer call volume on the subject!
Because of your diligent grassroots efforts during August recess each year, September is always a great time of adding cosponsors to the Amendment. But with all the other concerns this year, that hasn’t happened yet. That is another great reason for us to call them now.
This is a limited-time call blitz – today through next Friday only. We are asking you to take a moment now to call your Congressman, then plan to call once more in the next week and a half. Here are a few points you might want to remember when you call:
- The legal standard for protecting parental rights has been left up in the air since the Supreme Court’s Troxel decision in 2000, which notably failed to apply “strict scrutiny” protection.
- With no clear direction from the Supreme Court, lower federal and state courts are confused on the level of protection parental rights should receive. As a result, parental rights are becoming protected only on a case-by-case basis.
- The Supreme Court determined in Reid v. Covert (1957) that ratified treaties can override the Tenth Amendment’s reservation of rights to the States if the right in question – in this case, parental rights – is not expressly preserved in the text of the Constitution.
- Two international treaties threaten the presumption that fit parents act in the best interests of their children, including one – the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities – that has been taken up by the Senate as recently as last year. The PRA would protect existing parental rights from threats by treaties like this one.
- According to a Zogby poll on parental rights, 93% of all Americans support the traditional view that fit parents have the right to make decisions for their children without government interference. That includes 97% of Republican voters and 92% of Democratic voters. This is the very standard the Parental Rights Amendment seeks to preserve.

Germany During Hitlers Reign...Not A Distant Thought

In 1933, Adolf Hitler was elected Chancellor of Germany. He took office in January, with Fritz Von Papen as vice-Chancellor to keep him in check. Only twenty years earlier the German Kaiser led his people into a disastrous war with the West.
Germans had had enough of the monarchy and the absolute power it had, and demanded the Kaiser's abdication. Having gotten rid of the Emperor, the new German Republic carefully separated powers between the presidency and the chancellery.
But President Von Hindenburg was 86 years old when Hitler assumed the title of Chancellor of Germany. The timing was perfect.
Hitler's ascendancy was meteoric. In the early 1920's, he was little more than a neighborhood organizer. Over time, as hyper-inflation and catastrophic unemployment hit Germany, Hitler's movement, dubbed 'national socialism' grew into a fringe party.
In 1923, leading what he hoped would be a violent overthrow of the Weimar Republic, Hitler leapt to a table in a beer hall in Bavaria and called on a gathering of officials to support him in the march on Munich.
Instead, they arrested him, put him in prison and outlawed the Nazi party. After his release, Hitler set about reorganizing the national socialists as a movement. In 1927, when the government lifted the ban on national socialism, it became a political party. In 1928, the Nazis managed only 3% of the vote.
It wasn't until 1931 that Hitler began to made inroads within the vast German center-right political monolith still controlled by traditional conservatives like von Hindenberg.
In the 1932 election, thanks to such tactics as voter intimidation, voter registration fraud, voter fraud at the polls, etc. the national socialists managed a solid majority in Parliament.
In January, 1933 and only days after Hitler assumed the chancellorship, there was an explosion followed by a fire in the Parliament building. Hitler declared an emergency and rammed home the 1933 Enabling Act that allowed an emergency suspension of civil rights.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
President von Hindenburg died in August, 1934. Within hours of his death, the German parliament issued the following press release:
"The Reich Government has enacted the following law which is hereby promulgated.
Section 1. The office of Reich President will be combined with that of Reich Chancellor. The existing authority of the Reich President will consequently be transferred to the Führer and Reich Chancellor, Adolf Hitler. He will select his deputy.
Section 2. This law is effective as of the time of the death of Reich President von Hindenburg."
The law was technically illegal since it violated provisions of the German constitution concerning presidential succession as well as the Enabling Act of 1933 which forbade Hitler from altering the presidency.
But whether or not he was legally eligible to serve didn't matter much anymore.
Hitler declared himself Fuhrer and ordered a referendum to retroactively confirm it.
So on August 19, Germany, still grieving its beloved war hero and president, went to the polls and confirmed Adolf Hitler as their Fuhrer, an action that only four years earlier would have been unthinkable.
Desperate times called for desperate measures.
In 1933, Germany was one of the most cultured and honorable nations on earth. German honor was legendary, particularly among German military officers who would rather die than dishonor themselves or their sacred oath of service.
The German culture at the time was such that, despite the World War and its excesses, Germany was THE place for foreign exchange students and was a favored diplomatic posting.
Hitler was widely respected at first for his governing ability. He nationalized much of Germany's banking system and began pouring money into the German infrastructure.
The first interstate highway system in the world was Adolf Hitler's Autobahn. The 'People's Car' (Volkswagen in German) was introduced at Hitler's insistence.
Hitler's political popularity morphed into a kind of cult worship in which he was styled as the German messiah. (The word 'fuhrer' is generally translated 'leader' but it is actually closer to the English word 'lord'. )
Britain's King Edward had so fallen under Hitler's spell that it was necessary to force his abdication to prevent England from being ruled by a Nazi sympathizer. (Edward died in exile in 1972)
In 1934, when Adolf Hitler became the supreme leader of Germany, Germany had both a free press and a legally elected parliament.
The German Republic was a functioning, western-style representative democracy. Germany was known for, and disliked because of its excesses, but it was also known for being one of the world's most honorable countries.
The demands of national socialism required rounding up certain classes of people. Experiments began on efficient ways to euthanize those deemed to be a drain on the German economy or damaging to its culture.
At first, it was baby steps, nationalizing the banks, rounding up firearms, demonizing certain classes of people, etc.
But desperate times call for desperate measures.
The trick to making it all work is making sure the times are desperate enough to justify the measures being advanced.
Here's the point. When von Hindenburg died in August, 1934, Germany was still one of the most honorable and cultured nations in Europe and everybody from King Edward of England to FDR thought Hitler was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
FDR's biggest worry abut Germany in 1934 was that competition posed by growing German industrial power might further damage America's depressed economy.
Only four years later, German Jews were being beaten and killed and their property either destroyed or confiscated during Kristallnacht (The Night of the Broken Glass).
What is the point I am trying to make here? There is no period in history that more perfectly mirrors the current global situation that that of the 1930s -- and on almost every scale of measurement; economic, political and spiritual.
One of the truisms of history, which has been observed by everyone from philosopher Georges Santayana to George Bernard Shaw is this: "One thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history. "
So, what does history teach us? Free speech is only free under certain circumstances in this brave, new 21st century world.
And my sense of history tells me this isn't one of them.

But President Von Hindenburg was 86 years old when Hitler assumed the title of Chancellor of Germany. The timing was perfect.
Hitler's ascendancy was meteoric. In the early 1920's, he was little more than a neighborhood organizer. Over time, as hyper-inflation and catastrophic unemployment hit Germany, Hitler's movement, dubbed 'national socialism' grew into a fringe party.
In 1923, leading what he hoped would be a violent overthrow of the Weimar Republic, Hitler leapt to a table in a beer hall in Bavaria and called on a gathering of officials to support him in the march on Munich.
Instead, they arrested him, put him in prison and outlawed the Nazi party. After his release, Hitler set about reorganizing the national socialists as a movement. In 1927, when the government lifted the ban on national socialism, it became a political party. In 1928, the Nazis managed only 3% of the vote.
It wasn't until 1931 that Hitler began to made inroads within the vast German center-right political monolith still controlled by traditional conservatives like von Hindenberg.
In the 1932 election, thanks to such tactics as voter intimidation, voter registration fraud, voter fraud at the polls, etc. the national socialists managed a solid majority in Parliament.
In January, 1933 and only days after Hitler assumed the chancellorship, there was an explosion followed by a fire in the Parliament building. Hitler declared an emergency and rammed home the 1933 Enabling Act that allowed an emergency suspension of civil rights.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
President von Hindenburg died in August, 1934. Within hours of his death, the German parliament issued the following press release:
"The Reich Government has enacted the following law which is hereby promulgated.
Section 1. The office of Reich President will be combined with that of Reich Chancellor. The existing authority of the Reich President will consequently be transferred to the Führer and Reich Chancellor, Adolf Hitler. He will select his deputy.
Section 2. This law is effective as of the time of the death of Reich President von Hindenburg."
The law was technically illegal since it violated provisions of the German constitution concerning presidential succession as well as the Enabling Act of 1933 which forbade Hitler from altering the presidency.
But whether or not he was legally eligible to serve didn't matter much anymore.
Hitler declared himself Fuhrer and ordered a referendum to retroactively confirm it.
So on August 19, Germany, still grieving its beloved war hero and president, went to the polls and confirmed Adolf Hitler as their Fuhrer, an action that only four years earlier would have been unthinkable.
Desperate times called for desperate measures.
In 1933, Germany was one of the most cultured and honorable nations on earth. German honor was legendary, particularly among German military officers who would rather die than dishonor themselves or their sacred oath of service.
The German culture at the time was such that, despite the World War and its excesses, Germany was THE place for foreign exchange students and was a favored diplomatic posting.
Hitler was widely respected at first for his governing ability. He nationalized much of Germany's banking system and began pouring money into the German infrastructure.
The first interstate highway system in the world was Adolf Hitler's Autobahn. The 'People's Car' (Volkswagen in German) was introduced at Hitler's insistence.
Hitler's political popularity morphed into a kind of cult worship in which he was styled as the German messiah. (The word 'fuhrer' is generally translated 'leader' but it is actually closer to the English word 'lord'. )
Britain's King Edward had so fallen under Hitler's spell that it was necessary to force his abdication to prevent England from being ruled by a Nazi sympathizer. (Edward died in exile in 1972)
In 1934, when Adolf Hitler became the supreme leader of Germany, Germany had both a free press and a legally elected parliament.
The German Republic was a functioning, western-style representative democracy. Germany was known for, and disliked because of its excesses, but it was also known for being one of the world's most honorable countries.
The demands of national socialism required rounding up certain classes of people. Experiments began on efficient ways to euthanize those deemed to be a drain on the German economy or damaging to its culture.
At first, it was baby steps, nationalizing the banks, rounding up firearms, demonizing certain classes of people, etc.
But desperate times call for desperate measures.
The trick to making it all work is making sure the times are desperate enough to justify the measures being advanced.
Here's the point. When von Hindenburg died in August, 1934, Germany was still one of the most honorable and cultured nations in Europe and everybody from King Edward of England to FDR thought Hitler was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
FDR's biggest worry abut Germany in 1934 was that competition posed by growing German industrial power might further damage America's depressed economy.
Only four years later, German Jews were being beaten and killed and their property either destroyed or confiscated during Kristallnacht (The Night of the Broken Glass).
What is the point I am trying to make here? There is no period in history that more perfectly mirrors the current global situation that that of the 1930s -- and on almost every scale of measurement; economic, political and spiritual.
One of the truisms of history, which has been observed by everyone from philosopher Georges Santayana to George Bernard Shaw is this: "One thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history. "
So, what does history teach us? Free speech is only free under certain circumstances in this brave, new 21st century world.
And my sense of history tells me this isn't one of them.

Voter Registration at Church
What do I think of this practice: Having someone at church set up to register folks to vote...is it OK?
I think it is really best to register people to vote somewhere besides church. Have pamphlets available so people know where else to go to register, but Sunday should be about God and worshiping Him. I don't think taking the focus off of God for political activism is worthwhile. Politics and doing the 'right thing' aren't going to strengthen the body for the labors to be done that week, nor will it transform a life.
What of people visiting the church for the first time...is there a chance voter registration would hinder them really understanding the purpose of the church?
Regardless of what you think of that, to me it's just not something that really needs to be brought in to church. I continue to believe that if a pastor is teaching rightly in a Christian church, the members will be moved by God to do what they ought to do, which is vote and vote pro-life.

I wrote this post in Feb 2013, and now it is Feb 2026 and I'm updating to say that voter registration has no part in a Bible preaching and teaching church. It is outrageous to me. If Christians are going to be too lazy or apathetic to do the right thing, then let God do what He wills, but the church is for the called out body of believers to worship Jesus Christ, be instructed in righteousness, serve the body, and exhort one another. Politics are a mess and they should be left outside the one place we go to be corporately together as worshippers of holy God.

People can scoff at this, but what all the people who don't care about the rule of law, how to preserve a culture, life for EVERYONE, and God's standard of marriage--which, incidentally, holds up a culture, is that this nation is on the fast track DOWN. There is going to be continued moral decay. All of the Latinos that think this land is better and so they come illegally (obviously, not the legal ones) are ignorant of the fact the system that has made this nation great is going to collapse, and already is collapsing. Liberals are so short-sighted. They cut off their nose despite their face, and while the foolish voters who put Obama back in office don't realize this, he and his handlers know this all too well. The phrase 'going to hell in a handbasket' applies to the USA and we have ignorant liberal fools to thank for it. I don't even care about arguing the point though. They can tell me I'm stupid and wrong, we'll all see. It doesn't matter what I say, the proof will be in the pudding; it already is for those who want to see the truth.
