After not having rain where we live from mid June until the start of August, we've now had rain nearly every day for a month. The grass is thriving, strawberries regrowing, greens continuing on....but a little white moth has attacked our arborvitaes and the stress of the heat for so long has taken a toll.
Aside from the grass being the main focus this year, we have a new hedge project underway that is being babied.
Look at this amazing Luna Moth caterpillar!
Spirea are reblooming
Oregano is back in full force and I'm really glad. I used to have some out back but with the dog, this sort of thing has to be out front!
Parsley and petunias continue on
Thyme Basil
Moved a barberry from blocking the figs to the terrace in front of the maple.
The new Steed's Hollies (Japanese Hollies) and beyond them are Needlepoint Hollies
Lamb's Ear, Borage, and a Tropical Plant a neighbor gave me. All resurged with the rain.
First time this hosta has bloomed!
Bunny area Rose of Sharon
Our 2nd batch of tadpoles is developing well. Some are bigger than this one!
A new sunflower
This is not fully capturing the damage these girls have endured. Hoping for some recovery this spring, but not super optimistic.
That said, the grass is my joy. Just reseeded again today with a high traffic blend. SO HAPPY!
Thanks to the Scott's book on how to grow grass...a big dog is really the enemy, but praise the Lord, we're having some success!
