2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here's an excerpt:
600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 2,300 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 4 years to get that many views.

Number of Women Dying From Legal Abortions Doubles

Women who are truly pro-women should be against abortion. Tons of baby girls are killed each year and women can die or end up with other complications from having an abortion.

http://www.thebereancall.org/content/number-women-dying-legal-abortions-doubles

This point can be argued or dismissed. Those of us who are pro-life aren't at risk. We aren't losing out personally. It's strange that we care more than liberals about women's health. But, we also give more to charity and they say we're stingy.

When the Enemy Finds Your Flock

Backyard chickens are a fun hobby and a great way to provide fresh eggs for the family. In our area there is about a two year grace period from predators. At that point, something will find the girls. We lost 3 chicks this summer, very sad and a waste of money, but it turned out for the best. Five layers and 3 chicks was really too many. We got very diligent about taking care of the girls to avoid further tragedy.

From July until December all has been well, until two nights ago. It was our first day of Christmas break and my first day of Christmas baking. Using a gift card from my hubbies uncle, we enjoyed dinner out and then did some driving around to look at Christmas lights. When we came home, it was very dark...and had been for 3 hours. The dog went outside when the kids went out to lock up the coop and he seemed to see something, but with the rain and wind, we didn't see or hear anything strange. The kids got their Dad to check on the yard and with his OK, they locked up.

Morning came, the kids opened the coop and took out food and water, and we went about our very busy day making deliveries to friends. We got home past dark, so my son had to take the flashlight out to get the eggs since he didn't get to do it during the afternoon. Moments after going out, he returned inside, quickly going into hysteria at finding a headless chicken in the nest box, with an egg on TOP of her. I went out to take care of things and to make sure the coast was clear. The man was picking up pizza. Break means time off from normal cooking--he is a wonderful husband! Once he got home, he helped me clean up the carcass and lock things up. I went to bed thinking about putting a bottom on the coop, which sits on the ground directly, and listened at the opened window when I thought something might be going on out there. Our windows are new and we can't hear what is going on that well outside when they are closed. Exhausted and satisfied all was well enough, I went to bed late.

This morning while my husband was at the grocery store, I went out side to do the chicken duties. The kids are a bit traumatized and I thought it best I go out. Taking apart a lot of the paraphernalia I have around the coop to insulate it, I opened one of the doors. One girl came out but no one else did for a while. That made me think something wasn't right. I called them, and the two newer girls came out slowly. Time passed and when the fourth didn't come out, I knew it was dead upon finding a whole dug under. Not wanting to see that mess, I waited again for my husband to get home. We brought in the groceries and he dutifully took a bag to get the multitude of feathers, the newly killed hen, and the head of the other hen out of the coop. It was a blessing to not have to see Princess. Seeing Cream Puff was bad enough.

Tonight the head of our family blessed me by saying the girls could sleep in the garage in the dog cage. What is amazing is that they walked right in to the garage and then went in to the dog cage. It is as if they knew tonight was going to be a different night. People can think chickens are stupid and untrainable, but our girls know my voice and when I said it was OK for them to come in, they knew just what I had in mind. While I'm sad at how our other 2 died, I'm convinced God was watching over the 3 that survived. Buff was next to each girl that got attacked, she even has blood all over the top of her head from last night's attack. She is our old favorite. The younger girls are the best layers now, and they are very close to each other (our rescue chickens). Thankfully one of them didn't go.

The moral of the story--fortify your coop even if you are in a neighborhood with a privacy fence. At some point the predators will relentlessly come calling and you'll be forced into understanding a little more about farming.

Public School Teachers in My Area--Terrible story

I was having a casual conversation with this nice kid who works at one of the health/holistic stores I shop in. He and I have enjoyed chatting whenever we see each other, and today I was surprised when he went into telling me how he is no longer substitute teaching because the public schools are a joke. The last time he taught it was for a group of autistic children. Veteran teachers had decided to have the kids go to an establishment to clean it. He had no idea why they thought this was a good idea, but what ensued is nothing short of abuse, and while people sit thinking that teachers all really care and their kids are safe, you need to read on.

One child was very overweight so unable to perform the tasks. His teacher began shaming him in front of everyone else, asking him how he would support a family one day and things of that nature. He had a mental breakdown and one teacher VIDEO taped him with her phone. On the bus ride back to school, the teachers were making fun of him.

I am beyond outraged at this, and not completely surprised unfortunately. There are far too many stories about teachers being abusive or kids being abused by people in the school and it getting brushed under the rug. Before anyone goes into how loving so many teachers are, save it. That thinking, even if it is reality, doesn't protect our kids. Who is willing to TEST the system on their precious offspring??? That kind of faith lines up with evolutionary thinking I guess. I can't see any logic or rightness in it.

The young man who shared this with me is intelligent and well-spoken. He always remembers my name, even if it's been well over a year since I've seen him. He had no reason to make this story up, nor did he know how opposed to institutionalized learning I am when he told me. He is no longer disillusioned, because unlike many who go into teaching, his IQ is high. This isn't a slam, check the data which shows  people enrolled in the colleges of education score lower than most others enrolled in college. The trouble is, educators are all told over and over how smart they are. They drink the Kool-Aid, then they do horrible things like these teachers did to this poor student.

For all those who teach and truly care and give of themselves--if you are honest you know what I'm saying is often true. The system won't improve with band-aids, it needs to be scrapped and mass education needs a different model.

Apostate Watch-Arnold Murray, Shepherd's Chapel 2

I thought I'd post more since Wordpress has shown some searches for this misdirected individual.

A solid believer who understands the Word will quickly listen to Murray and realize he is off-base, but he is a danger to those who have a history of being in a cult or who are ignorant of the Scriptures.

Shepherd's Chapel

Here is some more information on this false teacher.

The Bible says there is wisdom in a multitude of counselors. Get your teaching from multiple sources--John MacArthur, Martyn Lloyd-Jones, Charles Stanley, or this Calvary Chapel pastor I like to listen to; there are many solid, sound teachers available who will show you how to find real peace and a life that is glorifying to God. Do not trust a man/woman who makes themself out to be the only person teaching the truth (or his/her family are the only persons doing so). This is a good indicator you are involved in a cult.

Chronic Neediness and Crying Wolf

The story of the boy who cried wolf is one I'm sure just about all of us know and have seen to be accurate. If someone lies over and over, when they tell the truth (if they do), they aren't believed. For the boy it meant he got eaten, if memory serves me right.

Recently I've thought about how the chronically needy are a lot like that boy. A life in a perpetual crisis, never improving for more than a day or so, regularly needing advice, prayer, encouragement or time, gradually wears those around them down.  It is true that some lives are more challenging than others. But it is also true that a wildly different picture can be painted if the perspective is changed. Some times situations really are tough for the long haul, but how that is approached makes so much difference in how those nearby respond or feel.

I'm sharing this because if you are more of a taker, be careful. At some point you will have cause for real support but those around you might be sucked dry. Just like the marriage love-tank needs filling, so does the friendship storehouse. Self-sacrifice goes a long way.

Finally, if at your core you are convinced you have it harder than those around you, then you have a bigger problem my friend. I can't say that outlook helps in the friendship department for long. Eventually people figure that gig out. Life is full of seasons, and some of us get the harder ones early, some in the middle, and some at the end of life. It's those who have it the worst but still manage to bless others that are blessed themselves.

Poem for Sandy Hook Victims

Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.

They could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
They were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
They remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"Where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"This is heaven." declared a small boy. "We're spending Christmas at God's house."

When what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their Savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
Then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
And in that moment was joy, that only Heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King.
And as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
And as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."

Then He looked down on earth, the world far below

He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"May this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"

Then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"Come now my children, let me show you around."

Excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
All displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
And I heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"In the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

Written by Cameo Smith, Mt. Wolf, PA

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Me." I hope adults reading this will turn to Him before it is too late, and I'm thankful that these children were young enough that they may have entered His gates still. Some things we won't know for sure until we're with the King of Kings, but this sentiment is beautiful and I hope it is how it went. God bless the families~

Praying for Public Schools is Like...

Have you heard the funny comment about praying for God to bless the fast food about to be eaten? As if something magical is going to happen by praying to the nutritional content. We can thank God for it, but asking Him to bless it to our bodies is a bit of a stretch.

I feel like praying for government-run schools is like praying for an unhealthy meal to be akin to a salad, or piece of grass-fed beef. It's the beast itself that is the problem, at it's core; and praying for it to somehow glorify God is not going to happen unless the entire thing is stripped down and started over. We can layer an entire bag of salad on a fast food burger, it is still loaded with fat and sodium.

Parents, pull your kids out of public school while you can. They are being taught ungodly principles that are like a tidal wave, and one or two days a week at church isn't going to combat that sort of indoctrination.

For more information, please read The Harsh Truth About Public Schools by Bruce Shortt or get Voddie Baucham's DVD set, The Children of Caesar.

Maybe you are a Christian who admires a Christian family whose kids attended public school, and if you can ensure you are doing all those parent's did and that your kids will interact with the same types of students, teachers, and curriculum--perhaps the risk is worth it to you. But with more than 75% of kids raised in Christian homes leaving the faith a year after graduating high school, I think the fact 90% of Christians choose the same educational source as unbelievers an unsettling coincidence.  We as parents have to see what is going on and get on the offensive during our kids formative years.

We Need A Little Christmas Lyrics

This song speaks to my soul at Christmas. It encompasses what is missed when a beloved parent has gone to be with the Lord, families age, and this world continues to grow more evil. It's just been recent years that it has resonated so much with me. I guess because as the youngest in my family, I'm not that young anymore~

We Need a Little Christmas

Haul out the holly
Put up the tree before my spirit falls again
Fill up the stocking
I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now
For we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
Candles in the window
Carols at the spinet
Yes, we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
It hasn't snowed a single flurry
But Santa, dear, we're in a hurry
So climb down the chimney
Put up the brightest string of lights I've ever seen
Slice up the fruitcake
It's time we hung some tinsel on that evergreen bough

For I've grown a little leaner
Grown a little colder
Grown a little sadder
Grown a little older
And I need a little angel
Sitting on my shoulder
Need a little Christmas now

Haul out the holly
The ones that taught you all to
Live each living day
Fill up the stocking
But Auntie Mae!
It's one week
Past Thanksgiving day now

But we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
Candles in the window
Carols at the spinet
And we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
It hasn't snowed a single flurry
But Santa, dear, we're in a hurry
So climb down the chimney
It's been a long time since I've
Done the neighbourly
Slice up the fruitcake
It's time we hung some tinsel on that may-berry bough

But we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
Candles in the window
Carols at the spinet
And we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute

We need a little Christmas now!
We need a little Christmas now!
We need a little Christmas now!

'Benefits' of Public Education

Imagine that the Lord gave you a precious son and at 5 years old you made the decision to send him off to a public “school” where he will spend the next 13 years of his life. In this school they are taught lots of things.

They teach him that man came from apes and that life has no real meaning.
They teach him that the mention of God was illegal.
They teach him that there are many types of families and that they were all healthy.
They teach him that he was to accept all types of behaviors as normal.
They teach him not to judge other’s because there is no such thing as right and wrong.
They teach him that every type of behavior was normal but some needed “protection.”

What if they told you your precious son was going to be included in a classroom with 20 other students, collected from around your community. Your son would spend 7 hours a day hanging out with these children yet:

You knew very little about any of the other children.
You didn’t know what kind of home life they came from.
You didn’t know if any of them were on any types of “medication.”
You knew nothing about the “behavior issues” some were dealing with.
You knew nothing about what they did in their spare time.
You knew nothing about their moral compass.

While they were at the school you felt confident leaving them with the “teachers” even though:

You knew very little about the teachers’ personal beliefs.
You knew very little about the teachers’ personal lifestyle.
You knew very little about the personal stress the teacher was under.
You knew very little about what was actually being taught.
You knew very little about the condition of “others” in the teachers’ life.
You knew very little about what the teacher viewed in his/her private time.

Imagine that:

Everyone in town knew where there were a bunch of little kids.
No weapons were on sight to protect them from an intruder and everyone knew it.
You forfeited your parental rights when the child walked into the school door.
Educational “experts” were permitted to do psychological studies on your child.
Non-medical experts were permitted to recommend “medication” to control behavior.
A child’s expression of religious beliefs was discouraged, and deviancy was accepted.

I thought of the thousands of pre-born children who died daily in this land.

I thought of the millions of born-children who daily were spiritually dying from the secular-poison being fed to them.

I thought of the heartbreak of millions of parents weeping over “lost” teenagers and wondering what had happened to them.

I thought of the billions of dollars being poured down the secular rat-hole teaching a philosophy to children that was totally based on lies.

I thought of the thousands of pastors who will spend Sunday morning encouraging their flock to “pray for the schools” instead of blowing a trumpet of retreat from the secular hell where they teach doctrines of demons to God’s precious little souls.

I thought of the parents who used the schools as a babysitting service while they chased after the American dream with a life full of more “stuff.”

I thought about my granddaughter. I thought about my Lord. I thought about our Spiritual blindness.

Meggings? Need A Laugh?

Here's a quote that sums this up. With the USA falling into a state of non-importance as a global leader, abortion rampant here and abroad (China--what a travesty), crazy murders that we wouldn't have even thought of when we were kids...a little comic relief is a helpful thing. Introduce: meggings. The comments are what make the story if you ask me.

"The megging is a rare bird—although probably not one that we should save from extinction." Here's the story.

Inspiring Story of 9 yr old losing 66 lbs

This story just touched my heart. Losing weight is so difficult...and to see this kid do what needed to be done is inspiring. As parents it is our job to model healthy living so our kids get the best shot at doing the same thing when they are older, and seeing how this family walked no matter the weather is motivating to me. I'm approaching 40 and for the last few years various health issues have cropped up. All of them are helped with regular exercise, and keeping the weight where it should be is glorifying to God and will be a good example to my kids. Not long ago I saw a poster of what happens to our internal organs with just 10 extra pounds, then more weight and more weight. It is amazing how crunched up everything gets because of fat pushing on it. Having just returned from vacation, I'm getting serious again about how I eat, noticing that sugar really makes me feel bad, and walking helps my hip and feet now that my doctor has done so much work to get the mobility back. I applaud this family and this little girl and really hope this story will motivate others who have children that aren't healthy to get healthy. It's sure motivating me to do what I need to do to give my family the best me I can.

Back From Disney World

We have just returned from a most amazing trip to Florida. It was our 2nd to Disney World, and a long one! My husband planned it for well over 6 months so we'd all have a terrific time. It is interesting to me how a place so wonderful can be a total nightmare if not planned well! As much as I love Disney, if we went on a day that was busy, it would not be enjoyable at all. I've got to thank God for the weather we had; every day was terrific, though we planned for a myriad of temperatures and were glad to have some little extra things to keep warm at night.

This year we enjoyed breakfast in Cinderella's castle, breakfast in Norway (Epcot), dinner in Germany (Epcot), and the girls had a fabulous time at the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique in downtown Disney. All of our children had a blast in the Lego store and I snapped hundreds of pictures throughout the trip. We were enchanted with Belle's Enchanted Castle in the New Fantasyland and the kids all got to participate in the show. It's rumored the Lion King show in Animal Kingdom is going to be leaving, so we were thrilled to enjoy it again this year along with having all of the kids participate. It was amazing that they kept getting called on! I think Disney done right is a fantastic place to bond with one's family because there are so many things for each person to enjoy. This was our first time visiting Hollywood Studios; what a fun way to spend a day. The insightful tours into the movie industry were fantastic. I really liked seeing all of the fire and shooting scenes, plus the Indiana Jones set and how some of those amazing stunts get performed. Magic Kingdom didn't disappoint with the superb 'Mountains' (Space Mtn, Big Thunder Mtn Railroad (my favorite!), and Splash Mtn (another favorite for the whole family). Gaston's Tavern in the New Fantasyland serves up a delicious pork shank and a really tasty and fun apple drink. It looks like beer but is so good!

This was our first time touring through Epcot and the Candlelight Processional was beautiful. So many voices singing traditional Christmas songs while we listened to the Bible account being read throughout the show. It was a wonderful way to kick off the Christmas season. Afterward we saw a very impressive water and light show (with fireworks of course). The kids had a blast getting their passports filled in, which my hubby bought on ebay before we left so that would all be smooth. It is surprising how many people make Disney tracking and marketing a career or side job. We all enjoyed Sum of All Thrills and Soaring was a hit with most of us. The Test Track opened up the day we were there, and as so many things which went well, we walked on and also got a fast pass so we could ride again. The actual track part is the best portion of that ride; it's worth doing, but not as cool as I thought it could have been.

Kenny the Pirate was a huge help with where characters would be, among other details I really didn't pay attention to but my husband did! The sad part of the trip was my realizing that I'm quite claustrophobic during Mission Space. The ride had only begun when I had to work hard to not go into a full panic. It was terrifying to be honest, and Scripture and my oldest daughter got me through it. Realizing a limitation like this at my age, after all of the things I've done in life where small spaces were a part, has been tough to accept, but life is full of change and adaptations. God is in control~

Animal Kingdom is such fun, and things were different from last year. I like that they mix it up so that year to year, you are getting a new experience. We had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe as we left and that was a really nice treat. This is a park we have spent just a day in each trip, but I think I could spend two there. My family talked me into Expedition Everest which was fine when it was going forward in the light, but when we went backward in the dark, something happened. I couldn't get outside fast enough after that and thankfully, did not vomit even though I felt like I was going to. A new experience....

In all we went to the Magic Kingdom 3 times, Epcot twice, Animal Kingdom once and Hollywood Studios once. The down-day that was planned was perfect. We slept in, did the Boutique and some shopping, then toured a few Disney properties to see the decorations. I love the Grand Floridian, but think the Fort Wilderness Lodge is my favorite. The decorations are beautiful and that place just feels more like me. Not that I wouldn't love a stay at the Grand, but for the money, it would be hard to enjoy either. We loved staying at Windham Bonnet Creek, the only place within Disney property but not owned by Disney. Each night that we weren't in a park, I watched the Epcot fireworks and often saw MK fireworks as well. It is easier to sleep when you aren't paying several hundred (or thousands) of dollars a night! We loved the pools and got to enjoy them on our last full day after we finished with the park for that day.

One area of Disney that I was not impressed with was the tea at the Grand Floridian. Kay, the owner of Pinkadilly Tea in Fredericksburg, VA, could definitely teach them how to do a proper tea! Kay uses Devonshire cream and lemon curd with her scones, unlike the Grand which actually serves butter and jam. Also the quality of the tea was lacking at the Grand and the giant tea cozies were intrusive. The food wasn't as good as Kay's, and the service wasn't as elegant. I could go on, but don't want to totally nitpick! The setting at the Grand is fantastic, but I think they rely on that too much.

In all, I'm so thankful for all of the time with my family. My husband gave the kids breakfast every morning so I could sleep as late as possible; he woke us all up and lead us around making sure we all had fun. I don't know how he does what he does, but the fact he gets so much pleasure giving us a perfect vacation just speaks volumes about his personality. He understands my physical limitations and worked hard to help me not overdue it, and since I can feel trapped in amusement parks, the fact we hit each one on the slowest (or nearly) day was so appreciated.

It is hard to have to get back to action tomorrow since I'm so tired, but we enjoyed two glorious church services today and a good friend's baby shower, so I really can't complain. I love the work I do here.

Bacon

I'm a fan of bacon...baked potato soup with a pound of crispy piglet mixed in; a dripping bacon-topped cheese burger; calico beans with a pound of salty swine stirred in; bacon and eggs; bacon, egg and cheese biscuits; BLT's; broccoli salad with  bacon...the list goes on. If bacon is wrapped around a scallop, I'll have one. If a filet is encased in bacon, it'll go down smooth. But this new limited-time use of bacon, well, you decide. I wonder who will get their face bitten this holiday season!

Notable statements from the aforementioned (and linked to) article:

For $14.99, you can purchase a limited-edition can of what creator J&D's Foods suggests "is best used after a hot shower or before an important date with someone you may want to spend the rest of your life with."

and this excerpt:

it's to be used as part of the distinguished gentleman's grooming routine: (ha ha ha!)

--------------------------------

I can't see how anyone would pass this novelty up to be honest. Aren't you just a little curious if it really smells like bacon?!

Best of Luck With that Ticket

I'll admit, the few times I've been pulled over I probably didn't keep these things in mind. While it is nice to 'get off', if we're doing something wrong, we really shouldn't be upset with a ticket. My thinking is, it is nice to let an officer relax a bit when they do have to make us pull over. I know I'd appreciate not having to feel as likely to get shot at. Also, here's my hat tip to this former officer's honesty on attractive people getting breaks in life. It is true, whether we like it or not.

Teaching Girls Contentment-for Married Christian Women

The apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 4:11 that he learned to be content. This tells me that contentment is not something innate, and while most of us realize this, particularly if we are parents, I wonder if we take into account all of the circumstances where contentment should be taught. I want my girls to have a Biblical worldview, and when they are adults, this is going to look very different from many of their peers, particularly if they are married. God says in Titus 2:5 that a wife should be discreet, a keeper at home, chaste, and obedient to her own husband. This is in direct contrast to a wife working in my opinion, not that there aren't situations where the best way for a wife to help her husband is by working, but I believe that is the exception rather than the rule.

What if a husband can't provide all that his wife wants? Should she step outside of God's design and plan in order to help make more money for the family? It is hard to fulfill all a wife is supposed to if she is diverted with working. For this reason, I think we parent's need to work on teaching our daughters to follow their husband's lead, praying for God to provide what is needed through him, while also being capable people in case they are called upon to work. The years to train our children and bond with them, training them as they walk by the way, are so fleeting. It is a blessing that God instructs us to be keepers at home; He knows the constant care of a mother is best for children. I hope my girls will trust the Lord enough to work within the structure He has designed so the decisions and wants they have will be easily verified from the Word of God.

The ends do not justify the means, Mothers! If your heart is tied to your home, meaning your husband and children, your children will identify with home, and as they grow that will translate more and more into your particular values. I want my kids to realize serving the Lord through the family He gives them will never have them come up lacking, and that whatever their husband can provide is all they should want. In having an attitude like that, he will grow in confidence as a leader and provider more and more, which will incidentally, bless her. In contrast, stepping outside God's design carries so much regret and dreams that don't get realized. We ladies can cut off our noses in spite of our faces.

In other words, we reap what we sow. A lady who doesn't need a man to take care of her, will never have a man take care of her.

Old Dogs

They might be blind and require you to yell for them to hear you, but try to sneak a pill into a cheese they don't like, and forget it. Once they know there is a pill inside, all meat is suspect and while you walk away thinking "Victory!", you come back to find a bitten-into pill with the contents having leaked out. Our dog is old, but he is so smart still. "Hide the pill" can become quite a feat. As I write, there is probably one left in a bowl that had been filled with tons of yummy treats intended to hide it.

Overview of What the Bible Says about the Antichrist

As Christians, we are responsible for understanding the signs of the times. One of the best ways to know how close we are to the Tribulation hour is to track how ready the world is for the rise of the Antichrist. Here is a quick overview of what the Bible says about the Antichrist:

Daniel 11:36-43: He will magnify himself above God.
Daniel 8:23-25: He will be a problem solver.
Revelation 6:2: Everyone will think he wants peace.
Revelation 13:2: Satan is behind the Antichrist's power.
Revelation 13:5: He will have great political power.
Daniel 9:24-27: He will make a seven-year pact with Israel.
Revelation 13:7: He will wage war against the saints.
Revelation 13:8: He will be worshiped by all.
Revelation 13:16-17: He will require all to receive a mark.
Revelation 17:11-17: The Antichrist will betray the apostate church.
Revelation 19:19: The Antichrist will fight against Christ.

Keeping the White Fence Post, White

There is a powerful movement going on in Christendom, and the world-over really, where the fence posts darken without care, but the people are very active and busy, doing 'good works'. It is a challenge to do the mundane that we're called to, year after year, effectively. It is particularly hard when bombarded with books that glamorize living against-the-grain.... If one isn't careful, it can cause a body to pull away from God's clear calling in life, convinced they are being 'sold out' for Jesus.

Faith Undone by Roger Oakland is such a worthwhile read for those getting slowly sucked in to this cause-celeb driven world where the mundane is chastised in lieu of the "radical".

If you are a Christian wife, God makes it clear the first priority in life is to serve the husband He's given you to. If there are children, then serving them, raising them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord is next. How that child is educated comes hugely in to play here, particularly because of Luke 6:40. We can think we're doing more of the Lord's work by working all sorts of hours, abdicating our responsibilities at home, even donating all of the money we're making to good causes, but in the end I fear we will see that the ends don't justify the means. If God is truly in something, He will bring it about without our compromising His ultimate standards. Unfortunately in today's world of Rob Bell and the like, Mom's are leaving the hard, consistent work of keeping a home and raising their children as they ought. It feels so much more sacrificial to do something else, something sexy, but is that the right thing?

There are vast immature believers, even leaders, in today's seeker-friendly, social-gospel churches. Don't be one of them--go to the classical authors and listen to sound doctrine. Don't ignore what God plainly says is your job, according to Scripture. Beware of those that espouse lifestyles that act radically, but that do not focus on sound doctrine. The revolution is keeping the white fence post white, and in these dark days, we need more people willing to do that. It is EASY to leave dishes, laundry, child-rearing, home education and serving a husband in order to end sex-trafficking or storm unhealthy orphanages...but who is modeling God's primary vehicle for sharing who He is (the family)? Don't be fooled. Keep your white fence post white, love your children enough to do the hardest, most noble thing--get God's approval, not man's (who is always dazzled by the next self-sacrificing person). There isn't glamour or accolades for staying home and raising a family by mankind; doesn't that in itself make you give it a second thought?

Proverbs 14:12

There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

given over to a depraved mind

My husband and I sometimes discuss what is going on in the world...I gravitate toward the Revelation of John and tend to view all things in light of the trumpet I'm waiting to hear. He is also waiting and watching, but looks at what is going on in the USA as our being under judgement, which is a separate issue from the Great Tribulation. I don't know if my thinking is born out of an arrogance which holds that if America is 'over', then clearly Christ is coming for His church, or is it the fact the rest of the world is a mess and since we've been the final frontier, it must mean the time has come for the Rapture. The thing is, there is no shortage of people linking everything that happens to the coming false prophet and anti-Christ, but sometimes those links are massaged to fit an ideology or hope. Being logical and impatient with sensationalism, my husband feels the cause of Christians is harmed by such matters. I believe he is right, but I need to cling to my hope daily that He is coming--perhaps today, particularly when I see all that is going on in the world. As Ephesians 4 and Romans 1 say (my husband directed me there), we in America have gotten what we want. We don't want God, or His righteousness, or any kind of morality that infringes on our personal wants. History does repeat itself--other great nations have fallen because of the sort of self-indulgent behaviors we display in America.

So here we are, Nov 2012, and I want Jesus to come for His own soon--but I also want the USA to be what it once was. Only one of those is going to happen though...so my focus stays where it needs to stay. Trusting God, looking for my Savior, listening for the trumpet. Meanwhile, as in the days of Noah, there are scoffers and will continue to be.

Encouragement For Believers

We are going to need these verses and the power of God more than ever in the days to come. Come, Lord Jesus, come. Even now~we are waiting and watching.

Ephesians 6:10-20

The Armor of God

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, 15and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; 16in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, 19and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, 20for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

How the Drink Ends Up Taking You

"I puffed down smokes for 15 years," Monica Bullock says, "and I loved every single one of them."

At 17, she started because of her "cool" new stepsister, and her pack of Marlboro's. Experimentation turned to habit, leading to clove cigarettes and marijuana. "I don't blame anyone but me," she says.

Fifteen years later, after raising a son and battling serious lung infections, she quit—many times:

"I gave it up, about 50 times. I tried gum, but that didn't work. I hated all that chewing. The patches were OK until I started wearing patches and smoking. Eventually, I sought prayer and encouragement from a local religious group. I began counting my victories differently too. Instead of 'just quitting,' I quit for an hour, then two, then six—then a whole day.

"Small victories became larger ones until, one day, I realized I hadn't smoked in days. I won't lie and say that I don't think about it occasionally, but I sure don't crave them anymore. I quit smoking and so can you. Count the small victories."

---------------

When I say "drink", I'm referring to anything that you can get addicted to. The above is from this story, it's worth passing on to those who want to be in control, or have God in control, of their lives. We are so easily fooled into thinking we are the boss, but the Bible says it's either God or Satan (sin). I hope you'll get on God's side before it is too late.

Why Homeschool?

God tells us in Luke chapter 6, verse 40, that, "A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he is fully trained, will be like his teacher."  Who is the teacher in public schools? Is it a curriculum that honors and glorifies God, or is it one that points to the individual as the supreme being? Are the teachers heterosexual Creationists, or is their sexual orientation varied as well as how they believe the world came in to existence? What of fellow students--is what they are exposed to at home going to negatively influence your Christian child? Is a child able to defend his faith while the cement of his character is still hardening?

A further question-if 9 children are outside in dirty t-shirts, what are the odds your child, who is wearing a white t-shirt, is going to come in with a dirty shirt? What are the odds the 9 kids will dirty shirts will come in with white shirts as a result of your child going out to play with them?

There are many resources available to help parents successfully home educate their children. In my area there is a co-op on Monday afternoons that covers core and extra-curricular activities, a co-op on Thursday mornings for students of all ages, classes on Tue/Thur for middle/high school aged students, and then there is a program (Classical Conversations) that provides instruction one morning a week for K-6, or alternately for older kids, all the work they will do for the week is given once per week. Along with that one-day instruction, there is the classroom time to allow peer influence and that feeling of competition some students thrive on.

The bottom line is that there is no  magic. We can't put our kids into the ungodly public education system, where government is god, and expect them to hold on to the faith we're trying to instill in them. It works out to one or two days at church, plus five in the public school setting where the onslaught of worldview-shaping information is against God. Even students who seem to be Christian after going through the public school system will likely take on beliefs that are contrary to Scripture. There is simply no way to not end up with more of the world in us when we rub elbows with it day in and day out.

Weekend Away-Encouragement Before I Go

I'm leaving the computer for a few days, taking a weekend off :). I hope you all have a delightful weekend and will perhaps find some measure of entertainment if you scroll through the posts here LOL!

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18  So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,  as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Owner Fires Workers Because Obama Won

People can scoff at this, but what all the people who don't care about the rule of law, how to preserve a culture, life for EVERYONE, and God's standard of marriage--which, incidentally, holds up a culture, is that this nation is on the fast track DOWN. There is going to be continued moral decay. All of the Latinos that think this land is better and so they come illegally (obviously, not the legal ones) are ignorant of the fact the system that has made this nation great is going to collapse, and already is collapsing. Liberals are so short-sighted. They cut off their nose despite their face, and while the foolish voters who put Obama back in office don't realize this, he and his handlers know this all too well. The phrase 'going to hell in a handbasket' applies to the USA and we have ignorant liberal fools to thank for it. I don't even care about arguing the point though. They can tell me I'm stupid and wrong, we'll all see. It doesn't matter what I say, the proof will be in the pudding; it already is for those who want to see the truth.

God Leads Us Along-Hymn

This is such a wonderful hymn, full of encouragement and inspiration.
We all go through different seasons of life. The chorus speaks to
this issue and I think it is a lovely reminder to be merciful with
those who have gone a path that may be harder, as well as a good
reminder to those going through a trial that others are, or have, too.
We shouldn't feel alone, but we also shouldn't have a twisted pride that
our suffering outweighs someone else's.

1. In shady, green pastures, so rich and so sweet,
God leads His dear children along;
Where the water's cool flow bathes the weary one's feet,
God leads His dear children along.

2. Sometimes on the mount where the sun shines so bright,
God leads His dear children along;
Sometimes in the valley, in darkest of night,
God leads His dear children along.

3. Though sorrows befall us and Satan oppose,
God leads His dear children along;
Through grace we can conquer, defeat all our foes,
God leads His dear children along.

4. Away from the mire, and away from the clay,
God leads His dear children along;
Away up in glory, eternity's day,
God leads His dear children along.

Chorus:
Some through the waters, some through the flood,
Some through the fire, but all through the blood;
Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,
In the night season and all the day long.

Lyrics: George A. Young
Music: George A. Young

For The First Time After Losing an Election

I can honestly say my blood pressure did not change while watching the final election results come in. Four years ago, while in prayer and having been fasting, I saw God turn His back on America when Obama was elected. And could I be surprised? We left God long ago, and now we are under judgment. I've had no faith in politics, the heart of this nation is corrupt and willfully wicked, and no band-aid of getting some wanted political leader will change anything. We've made our bed and soon we will sleep in it. Let's look at the facts.

  1. Same-sex relationships, one of the things that led to the fall of Rome, are rampant. Note: this is against God's law

  2. Fornication is rampant and God says those who practice such things will not inherit His kingdom. A heart attitude that openly and actively rejects what God has said is one that is not tied to Him, yet those who claim to be His practice this, forgoing marriage.

  3. We kill the unborn, made in God's image.

  4. We kill the partially born, made in God's image. There are those who want to be able to kill up through the first year of life in case any defects show up during that time.

  5. People want to legalize homosexual relationships with children. This is beyond the pale, but it is a sick reality with some homosexual men in particular.

  6. We are justifying splitting Israel. Beware! God warned about this and in this so-called advanced age, we turn our backs and want to make nice with the Middle East terrorist oppressors by embracing something called "Palestine".

I want Christ to return. I'm ready. This nation has turned it's back and we used our influence and power to corrupt and defame righteousness. We are like Sodom and Gomorrah and before long, people will see the power of God Almighty. He is the only King and intercessor. Jesus Christ is coming back, pay attention to the truth of His word.

Getting Organized--Again

I just wanted to share a testimony in case anyone who is homeschooling more than one child is feeling like the days are chaotic, less productive than desired, and more random than ordered. For the last few years I have made up an Excel sheet with the hours of the day and days of the week as the axis'. Each block of time had exactly what each of my kids was doing. This way I could see that I had time with each one and that there was time for chores and other extras.

This year I just did one general spreadsheet showing what people should get accomplished each day. Since I didn't break down each specific task per child for each specific day of the week (this year's chart had their names on one axis and times on the other), days where we had ministry, or lessons, didn't go exactly how they looked. Add to this that each child's chores weren't clearly outlined, so that meant I was coming up with the chores each day, at random, and would often interrupt what they were doing if I wrongly assumed they weren't doing anything important. Doing such a loose schedule also meant they were coming to me with questions continually, one child in particular was always upset feeling there was no time to play, and the time I was supposed to spend with each one often got pushed aside.

Over the weekend I finally took the time I should have taken in August, and put together a more detailed schedule for two of the children. They have it in a page protector, there are time slots which are asterisked denoting it's a flexible choice with another asterisked spot, the chores are there, and yes! the free time/when the school day is done. This is a relief to me for SO MANY REASONS. Granted, we aren't talking as much during the day :), but I'm also not stressed with tons of questions all day and tons of little decisions. This has been a springboard to really teach the younger ones about prioritizing, staying on track to meet a goal, and moving forward if there is an obstacle.

I am back to feeling my day has an end in sight and like there is more control in the house all around. They are overseeing their responsibilities, the chores to keep the house a haven for us all are being covered without question or surprise, and I am not second-guessing myself about if the work load is too much. It's already helped me solve a problem with the one child never satisfied with the work load. It wasn't just scheduling issue, though that was huge b/c the constant shifting I'm so fond of drove this child up a wall, but it is a heart attitude of simply not wanting to accept this new stage of life and learning with grace.

If you've read this far maybe you are wondering about my oldest and the schedule. She's been working along well this year, keeping her own schedule, but I suspected some work was not getting accomplished as it should have. Therefore she is submitting her own schedule to me, using the two I've already created, to see what gaps there are and what her load of the chores should be and when. Together we will come up with one that works, taking into account when people are online or practicing piano, or having one on one time with me etc. . It's a school project in itself, but owning the material matters this year in a way it didn't last year.

We're all learning!

Anyway, I wanted to share because the difference in how I feel today and yesterday, versus how I was feeling the last couple months, is pretty amazing. It is reminiscent of year's past, only now it's more relaxed because they are learning how to keep up with the pace themselves better than when they were younger. Hope this helps someone. Reaping and sowing ends up impacting so many areas of our lives. I'm sure getting more consistent and organized with school will flow into other areas as well! ♥

God bless

Rethinking Catholicism

As a Bible believing Christian, I have plenty of reasons for having left the Roman Catholic Church when I was in high school. The Word of God is the final authority on all matters relating to the Creator, and Mary, Jesus' mother, is not any sort of intercessor. The mysticism that surrounds her and the false apparitions are heresy since they conflict with God's Holy Word. The Bible says there is One intercessor between mankind and God, and that is Jesus Christ. Mary does not and cannot intercede, and we are all called saints if we've put our faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. There are no 'patron' saints that intercede in any way, shape or form to Christ. The Word will tell us if that were the case, and it says just the opposite. As if these things aren't enough to make one really question if the RCC is unbiblical in many of its teachings, this ecumenical move with a full-fledged false religion is abhorrent.

Muslims cannot come together with Christians. Please read Faith Undone by Roger Oakland if you are buying into this Emergent type of belief. It is setting the stage for the one world religion that will reign after the Rapture of the true Church. We do not all believe in the same God. God is not to be confused with other religions high leader. His attributes are not that of Allah or any other false god.

Social Services--Like the Devil, in Nevada

You would think a story of a mentally impaired person's pregnancy, potentially ending in forced abortion, would happen anywhere but the United States of America. Read this story to see the facts surrounding yet another measure of pure incompetence.

Come, Lord Jesus, come.

John MacArthur on Babylon

Some sermons on Babylon from John MacArthur with Grace to You. Updated 6/1/23 to say the GTY app is worthwhile and makes listening to sermons really easy! This post was published initially Oct 30, 2012. The links didn't work so I've updated them.

Baptism

Did you know that there are no examples of infant baptism in the Bible?

Jesus was 30 years old when He was baptized, and He is the only person in history whom God the Father said, or could say, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." There is no one else who should expect to be spoken to by God in that manner because Christ is and was God's ONLY begotten son.  No one else can equal that exact position because Jesus was not merely a man, He was completely God at the same time.

We become children of God through our personal faith in Jesus Christ as the payment for our sins. We cannot become God's children by any act we have done to us--it is a change of position from darkness to light when we go from God's enemy to his child. We do not become God's children through baptism.

You see, there must be a payment for sin, and Christ paid it ONCE for ALL. This again is what the Bible says.

The greatest blasphemy told during some baptism services is that a person can inherit eternal life because of the act of baptism put upon them. This is wholly unbiblical, and it is a dangerous lie. Why do I say this? Am I against sincerity? Am I judgmental and nasty? No, friends. I love the Lord with my whole heart, and more than that, I love His truth and His word. And I love people.

There are many, vast droves even, of misinformed people going through the motions of what they've always been told, or what their family has always done, and it is not in alignment with the only trustworthy authority, God's word. It is our own responsibility to search out carefully what we believe. This requires letting go of fear and it means we need to be humble enough to possibly see where we've been mislead. This can be scary, but we have to realize that every person spends eternity in one of two places.

These things matter because if a person grows up with a false sense of security that they are saved and they actually are not, they are in grave danger of never seeing what God actually says on the matter. The Holy Spirit does not go in to inanimate objects like water. He is not controlled by a mere mortal to go where the mortal says He will go. Saying it happens doesn't make it so; the Bible says that the Holy Spirit indwells believers. People need to be old enough to understand, even if it is the faith of a child, but they need to have a change of mind about their position in relation to God to be in a right relationship with Him.

You know what I've noticed from cults and false religions, they use sales techniques to guilt their members in to staying. When someone talks to you presupposing what will happen in the future to keep you in their 'group' it is a form of manipulation. Catholic leadership employs this technique mightily during the baptism service... "When you are confirmed you will receive this oil again." An oil, mind you, that oil has no power or holiness.

There is no such thing as an 'oil of salvation'--it is no where in the Bible and like so many false religions, it indirectly teaches that Christ's sacrifice on the cross was not sufficient to save us. This is blasphemy, people. Salvation, or being reconciled to God, comes one way, "For by grace you are saved through faith, and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works so that no one may boast." Ephesians 2:8

Adding anything to what God has said is a sin (Prov 30:5-6; Deut 12:32; 1 Cor 4:6). We must be honest and straightforward if we are His representatives. It is unacceptable for any Christian to shrug off false religions that are prolific with a, 'Well, I really don't understand that religion", and then walk the fence on if it is true or a lie.

When we are reconciled to God, because of Christ's sacrifice, we receive the Holy Spirit IN FULL, not in part.  How can a Deacon or Priest tell someone that when they do 'such and such (ie confirmation) they will receive the fullness (the rest of) the Holy Spirit of God? We do not set the terms on these things. God is Sovereign and He says we are sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption. Sealed. see Eph 4:30

I will wrap up in a nutshell--you cannot fully adhere to the teachings of the Catholic church and be an actual Christian. If you are a Christian, you are not Catholic. You may have some Catholic ritualistic beliefs you are holding on to, but if you are a born again believer according to Scripture (not man's ideas, not what a pope or some bishop or deacon has arbitrarily said) you are not a Catholic because they hold to a works salvation and they must keep working in order to KEEP their salvation (ie must go to confession--any unconfessed sin, which means confessing to a priest, will keep you from being holy and thus you can't go to Heaven...so all the things said during a Catholic baptism when they tell a person they are now reconciled to God is actually not accurate.).

What does God say? If you care about really knowing what God has said and is still saying, so that you and those in your care will also know the truth, you must be in the Word of God. The difference of spending eternity in Heaven or Hell is depending on it. We are each accountable, fully, 100%, before God to be reconciled. Nothing anyone does for you will make a difference in your standing, besides their being a light of truth to you or praying which then motivates you to study the truth for yourself.

Romans 3:23  "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

Romans 6:23  "The wages of sin is death but the GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Romans 5:8,  "God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us"

Romans 10:13  "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord  will be saved."

Romans 10 : 8-10 But what does it say? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.”

Ephesians 1:13-14 tells how we are sealed by the Holy Spirit, so the Catholic teaching we can get varying parts of His Spirit is clearly false. Here is what it says:

"In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation-- having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory.
--------------------------
Those who CALL on the name of the Lord will be saved, not those who do this or that or have this or that done to them. It is not my opinion, it is what God has said.

2 Cor 1:21-22 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.

Eph 4:30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

-------------------------

There are no sacraments given in the Bible that are laid out which will save us, reconcile us, keep us with God. It is wrong to try and 'cover all your bases' and say, 'it doesn't hurt'. It does hurt to mix lies with truth.

Baptism in Scripture is an outward symbol of our own personal death to ourselves, identifying with Christ's death and burial, and then we are raised up out of the water as we identify with being raised in newness of life.

-----------------------

Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus gives baptism as an ordinance to disciples--grown men.

Romans 6:3-5 baptism as a sign of the saving truth of the Gospel, which is the Good News that Christ has paid the price, once and for all, for our sins.

Jesus Himself showed that baptism is NOT NEEDED for salvation when he told the thief on the cross that "Today you will be with me in Paradise" Luke 23:39-43 (that thief was never baptized, let alone as an infant).

In Gal 3:26 Baptizo is the Greek word which means to "immerse, submerge; to baptize or immerse in or wash with water in token purification from sin and from spiritual pollution."

There are numerous passages in Scripture to show that baptism follows belief, and infants cannot do this. God is interested in our obedience to His Word. What He had included in Scripture is there for a reason.
