First Post of 2017

It is nearing 5 pm. I've got a blueberry apple bread pudding going in the oven for tomorrow's breakfast, just returned from walking the dog despite the low 20's we're experiencing, have dinner ready and a friend blessed us with another dinner for tomorrow (which is tempting to eat tonight over what I made!) so that is in the fridge. The house is decent, kids are working on school work diligently, yet, what do I come in to?

"Mom, she won't let me use the Latin/English dictionary!"

I say to hold on because I was listening to a sermon on my ipod and wanted to turn it off and let the dog out back to pee since we'd just gotten home from the walk and she doesn't go potty during the walk (love having a female dog!).

When I come in to assess the situation, my AP Latin student, who didn't loan the dictionary despite the request, lectured me on why the other student shouldn't need it....

She is probably right. The younger sibling needs to memorize more words if survival of higher Latin is to be found. And I should care. I kind of want to.

But really I just want everyone to finish their work so we can eat and relax together while I do laundry.
