As adults we can complicate situations. Some situations are by nature difficult, just as some people are naturally harder to deal with. The reality is, not everyone is likeable to us. We might start out getting to know someone we don't think we will really like, and surprise! they become a close friend. Likewise, we may start getting to know someone and the farther in we go, the more we want to turn back.
College relationships, church relationships, work and family relationships....
The thing to remember is, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Ask God, who wants to be involved, for guidance. Ask Him for opportunities to show kindness to those you don't particularly favor, in a way that you can successfully feel friendly. Ask Him for wisdom in how to navigate dealing with prideful and manipulating persons. Ask Him to keep you from hard situations you struggle to react well in until you can learn how to respond rightly.
No where are we told to like every person the same, but we are to be honest, serve others, love the brethren....Ask God to transform you!
