Taking Time Off

As believers who work to reflect Christ regularly with the lost, it can grow tiring. Looking for opportunities, worrying you've missed opportunities or didn't make the best of one, can take a toll. Along these lines, fretting about someone who just won't fully give themselves to God gets old. Loving the lost, or carnal Christians if that is such a thing, should be a concern for those secure in Christ, but we can't let it steal our joy.

There is nothing wrong with taking some time off. Giving those concerns to God, basking in the depth of relationships with committed fellow believers, and simply enjoying time with the people of God is necessary. That is why believers are commanded to attend church regularly. We need one another in order to rightly live the Christian life.

The reality is this: there is a joy the world cannot understand. There is a closeness among God's people that transcends what the world has to offer. The lost can't even comprehend what they are missing, and you know, that is ok. It is ok to live your full life, obeying God, and not think about the lost from time to time. Enjoy your family, bask in the body of Christ, and be satisfied and filled with all the fullness of God. Rest in a day among those who also see the wickedness abounding in the culture, being understood.

God can handle the lost while you recharge. "Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest."
