Kids Don't Raise Themselves

The joy of being a grandparent is that one does not have to do the work of parenting. Making kids eat a healthy diet isn't something the grands need worry about. Grandparents don't have to instill the important value of not taking food for granted, not wasting what can nourish a body.

Setting the kids up on a schedule and keeping it--not a priority.  It is the parent's job to get the kids to bed each night at an early time and get them moving each morning so they learn to be productive people.

Teaching the kiddos to say please and thank you and wait when adults are talking...shouldn't have to be the job of the older generation. Those who are relatives of little cuties want to be able to just enjoy the kids, maybe even spoil them a bit. Sadly in today's overindulged and oft-ignored children era, it is harder to be a doting grandparent.

Who wants to spoil a child who already gets more than they should?

Who wants to give the kids a treat when the parents let the child eat whatever, whenever?

If you find yourself as a parent wishing more people doted on your child, ask yourself if it is possible your parenting choices contribute to the dynamic you experience.

Hunting is Bad but Wasting Food is Acceptable?

Here is something interesting to me, and by interesting I might mean appalling.

There are people against hunting. Hunting, which actually is proven to help herds be stronger and healthier, feeds people, and makes our road ways safer for the only beings created in the image of God, is looked at as a negative by those who feel their view is superior to those who would dare kill an animal.

An animal which the hunter will eat. Sometimes the hunter even uses other parts of animal they kill like antlers for their dog to keep its teeth clean, and the hide for various uses like a rug or decoration.

I have to openly wonder, are these anti-hunting advocates some of the same people who throw away and waste tons of food each year, showing no gratitude for what God has provided? Wasting money, and adding to the 40% food waste in America each year, surely can't put someone above another person who uses animals exactly as God intended.

Read up on food waste if you have to in order to realize wasting food is like setting your money, another thing to be grateful for, on fire.

Don't waste food. Don't let your kids waste food. It is the job of parents to demonstrate gratitude and teach it to their offspring.
